Chapter 99
“You’re not sleeping** Leon sat up, his expression unreadable.
“How could sleeping be more fun than watching the drama untold?” Aaron waved toward the doorwa, signaling someone to bring in two glasses and a bottle of liquor. After giving his instructions, he turned back to Leon. “Especially when the drama is about you.”.
Leon remained silent. Soon, the drinks were brought in.
After dismissing the staff, Aaron opened the bottle and poured generously into both glasses. He landed one to Leon. “You have a story, and I have the drinks. Let’s hear it.” Leon looked at him, his gaze carrying an unfathomable depth
“Don’t look at me like that. It gives me the chills,” Aaron joked.
Leon accepted the glass but simply placed it on the table.
Aaron frowned. “What’s going on?” Seeing that Leon did not respond, he became even more curious. “What happened?”
“Last night, Edwin asked me two questions. After I answered, he got angry. He told me to pretend that he doesn’t exist anymore,” Leon said calmly.
What did he ask?”
For Edwin to say something like that, the questions had to have been serious.
Despite how rarely Leon was around, Aaron knew Edwin was mature beyond his years. He would never say something so drastic unless he was deeply hurt.
Leon met his gaze but did not answer. it was not the questions themselves that troubled him. It was what they made him think about.
“You don’t have to tell me, but I’m guessing this has something to do with Eva If you already know she’s not as innocent as she pretends to be, why are you still involved with her?
Aaron said, piecing things together on his own
Knowing full well that she played tricks and twisted the truth, instead of keeping has distance, he had allowed her presence in his life. That was not like Leon at all
“Because of a prombe,” Leon admitted for the firsttime.
“A promise does not mean..” Aaron trailed off, something suddenly clicking in his mind.
His lips parted slightly, and his usual relaxed demeanor disappeared
The room fell into silence. Neither of them spoke for a long time,
After a while, Aaron grabbed the glass from the table and emptied it in one gulp. His voice was a little hoarse. “What happened back then wasn’t your fault. You don’t have to take responsibility for it
Lean lowered his head slightly, his hands resting on his knees.
“Forget it. Do what you think is best. No matter how much outsiders think they understand, they can never truly relate to what you’re going through. They have no right to judge. As your friend, I’ll just be here when you need me.” Aaron gave up trying to convince him.
“Tell Vergil that of Susie wants to come back, she can. As long as she doesn’t interfere in business matters, I’ll stay out of it,” Leon said.
Aaron i dived an eyebrow. “What about permish?”
Leon glanced at him. “What do you think?–
Aaron understood immediately Susie could return, but Jeremiah couldn’t be let off the hook
Leon did not dwell on the topic any longer. He stood up, grabbed his car keys and phone, then glanced at the empty glass on the table. “Want a ride back?”
“Obviously. Next time, don’t call me at this hour. In exhausted,” Aaron said, stretching lazily. Itis usual carefree attitude returned as if the earlier tension had never happened Leon responded wiali a quiet hum. The two of them left the private room together,
Aaron tossed his car keys to the club manager, structing him to have the car sent back later in the morning. Without hesitation, he got into the passenger seat of Leon’s car.
