Chapter 6)
The manager looked a little awkward.
Just as he was unsure how to respond, Victoria stood up and walked over. Her expression was calmer than ever. ‘It was Lron, wasn’t it?”
The restaurant manager denied it immediately, saying, “No, no, no! I wasn’t Mr. Quigley”
“Where is he?““Victoria couldn’t think of anyone else. She was convinced that Leon was behind this
Is he next door, or has he already left?””
Back when he used to take her to watch dramas or stir up trouble, he’d always choose the room next door. After all these years, she doubted he had changed that habit.
Cold sweat dripped from the manager’s forehead. He hadn’t anticipated things taking this turn at all.
“Bring her over.” Aaron’s voice came through the earpiece.
The manager felt uneasy. Seeing how serious both Victoria and Jeremiah were, he had no choice but to answer honestly, “Mr. Buck and Mr. Quigley are waiting for you next door.” Victoria strode out immediately, and Jeremiah followed right behind her.
The door to the private room next door was already open. Victoria stepped inside and was met with the sight of Leon sitting comfortably in his chair, as composed as ever. He barely lifted his eyes when she entered.
Their gazes met, and Victoria unconsciously clenched her hands at her sides.
Before she could demand an explanation, Aaron spoke up first. “Mr. Quinn, are you here to thank us?
“I was wondering which idiot came up with this ridiculous stunt. Turns out it was you, you brainless moron,” Jeremiah said with a scoff not holding back his sarcasm. “Seems like your intelligence hasn’t improved over the years.”
“Jeremiah“” Aaron’s temper Dared instantly.
Jeremiah crossed his arms. “T’m right here.”
Aaron shot up from his seat. “I’IL‘
“Do you really have to back back if a dog barks at you?” Leon pressed a hand on Aaron’s shoulder, his deep voice steady and unhurried.
“Well, well, the scumbag’s here too,” Jeremiah said, now firing shots at everyone in the room. “Did you team up with this idiot to pin your own cheating behavior on Vicky?
Aaron gritted his teeth. Jeremiah was just as annoying as ever for calling him an idiot over and over.
“But too bad, Vicky isn’t a scumbag like you,” Jeremiah said, pulling out a chair for Victoria to sit. “And I’m not some shameless homewrecker like Eva.”
“Door barking? Leon’s gar turned colder
Jeremiah stood beside Victoria like a knight on guard. “Not even close. Are you underestimating me? Or is this all the stamina you’ve got, Mr. Quigley? Does that homewrecker only get this much from you?
Aaron and Leon were stunned by the boldness of his words.
Victoria couldn’t help but massage her temples. How could she have forgotten how much Jeremiah loved to run his mouth?
“If that’s the case, you might want to book an appointment at the urology department,” Jeremiah sald, feigning concern. This is a medical issue, and you should get it checked.” “All this nonsense just to change the subject,” Leon said, unbothered
Jenerali raised a beow. “What subject?”
“You like Victoria,” Leon said, glaring at Victoria for a moment before locking eyes with Jeremiah again. “Don’t you?”
“Of course,”
„” Jeremiali answered without hesitation. “it’s no secret. Why should I denyin
Aaron was sprechless while Leon’s eyes darkened slightly
“Was that a confession?” Aaron asked, confused by the sudden turn of events.
“Can you stop thinking with your love–obsessed brain for once?” Jeremiah alot back, completely
etely unbothered. “In your world, only romantle feelings count as “liking” someone?
Aaron shot back, “Are you saying you have nothing beyond friendship for Victoria?”
Jeremih smirked. “One, therein.”
Victoria was caught off guard by what was happening.
