Chapter 109: A Fake 

The man heard her words and reacted.. 

“No hospital,” the man spoke softly, but she could still hear him. 

“You are bleeding!” she insisted. 

“Where then?” the taxi driver asked. 

“Just drive! Did you not hear the gunshots as you entered?” she asked, and he suddenly panicked and stepped on the gas. 

“Gunshots? I was wearing my earpiece.” 

The driver muttered under his breath in regret as the car pulled away. If he had known there was a shooting, he would not have come. 

“Castle hospital,” she heard the man say and nodded. 

“Castle hospital,” she instructed the driver. She tried hard to catch her breath while glancing at the man beside her. The city light slightly danced over the droplets of sweat on his face to make out a sharp jawline and short, wavy hair. His eyes fluttered open the next moment to meet hers, and she froze. She felt as though she was staring into the barrel of a gun. For a second, she regretted picking him up. No! She regretted it from the moment they met. But she was at least grateful; his clinging did not get them killed.” 

“Can you tell me your name?” 

Collected herself and asked him quickly. 

“You shouldn’t pick up random people in the city,” the driver started to say when her head snapped his way. 

“Just drive before he dies,” she scolded Impatiently. 

“He shouldn’t die in my car; that is too much paperwork,” he answered in frustration 

She looked back at the man whose eyes were slowly closing 

“Hey! Don’t close your eyes; tell me who you are” She called to him over and over again, while shaking him to wake. 

“Mathias,” he said and closed his eyes. 

This made her panic as his skin was cold to the touch. She placed her hand over his nose and only relaxed when she felt his breath on her palm. She felt around through his clothes, looking for something to identify him with. But he did not carry anything on him except a handkerchief that was embroidered with the name Giorgio and nothing else. 

It did not take long for them to arrive at the hospital. 

Hazel did not have time to handle other things. She left him in the emergency room and made 

him leave. 

But the hospital staff refused to let her go, so she dropped her contact and left quickly. She was not sure who he was, but she was not staying to find out. 

She received a call from her mother. 

“Mom,” she answered. 

“You are not at the Ritz, right?” her mother urgently asked. 

“Why?” Hazel asked. 

“Your grandmother has taken your cousin’s side They are planning to marry you off to some random man to help the family,” her mother said. “Don’t go, alright? I already have a way to help the family. There is no need for you to sacrifice them,” her mother said, and Hazel almost cried. 

“Why are they doing this?” She asked. 

“Don’t worry, my ex–husband left something in a safe. I just got it. There is someone who will support us just to get their hands on it. You don’t need to lower your head anymore,” her mother said. 

“Then I will go. I want to see if Grandma can force me!” Hazel said and ended the call. 

Right then, she flagged a taxi and got in. 

“Where to?” The driver asked. 

“Drop me at the Ritz. I have a dinner to crash.” 

Hazel, dressed in red, walked into a family dinner being held in the Ritz restaurant in fury. Her steps were crisp against the expensive tile. She walked all the way to the private room, slamming the door open and startling all who sat there. Before anyone could react to her presence, she walked up to a man in a black suit, picked up a bowl of soup next to him, and poured it over his head. 

The soaked man was Andrew, her ex–fiancé. 

“Hazel Jackson!” Greta, Hazel’s grandmother screamed. 

“Hello, Madam Jackson, why does your voice sound like a screeching car? Did you injure it

with your conscience?” Hazel asked the old woman in response before turning to the man that was drenched in soup and picking up another bowl of porridge and throwing at the girl beside him. The girl was her cousin, who climbed into Andrew’s bed while they were planning their wedding. 

“My dress!” the girl screamed. 

“How can you have the face to wear white? Are you not afraid that your black soul will stain it?” Hazel asked the girl. 

“Will you behave yourself, Hazel?” An older man stood abruptly and said, “Must you embarrass the family this way? No matter what, both of you are sisters; talk this out!” 

Hazel looked at the man who had spoken; he was her father’s brother. While young, she looked up to him; he protected her and liked her. The moment her father died, he became indifferent. 

“Old man, are you crazy? Your late brother’s daughter is being bullied by your mother and your daughter, yet you dare call us sisters?” Hazel asked. 

“What did you call me?” her uncle paused and asked. 

late “What should I call you? Uncle? Where has anyone seen an uncle that helped his daughter 

his niece’s fiancé behind her back? Well, it must run in the family. After all, my marry father’s absence is the only reason you even have a place in that company. You dare try to scold me? Is it because I did not throw soup on you, so you still feel clean in your soul?” she 

asked. 

They were all shell shocked. This was a different Hazel than they were used to. She was fiercer than normal, as though she was not afraid of being disowned. 

“How dare you?” her uncle bellowed.

“How dare I what? Do you all have any shame? If this walking piece of shit did not want to marry me, he should have said so. Yet now you want to marry me to some random man?” Hazel glared at her grandmother. 

“Instead of insisting on Andrew, you should marry quickly. Why can’t we find you a husband? You have been eating at home; we have raised you, but you can’t help the company.” Her grandma scolded. 

“Andrew has moved on; you can’t keep insisting on marrying him!” A woman on the table spoke. Hazel turned to the woman who would have become her mother–in–law. 

“Are you crazy? Because I don’t want to marry some random man for my grandmother’s company, I am in love with your son.” Hazel asked. 

“Even if he was given to me, I would not take it. A man that can cheat once will cheat again!” Hazel declared. 

Andrew looked lit. He refused to believe she was not still in love with him.. 

Since Hazel had started, she decided to go to the very end. She came to cause chaos today, so she will make sure there was nothing but chaos. 

“You walking trash family,” Hazel said, looking at Andrew’s mother. “It is no wonder you would give birth to trash,” Hazel almost felt the need to curse. 

“Do you believe I will kill you right here?” When Andrew heard his mother getting scolded, the drenched Andrew raised his hand to throw a slap, but Hazel picked a tray and slapped his hand away before slamming it into his face. 

“Andrew, you 

dare try to touch me?” she asked and slammed his face with the tray again. When her cousin Nina saw her new fiancé get hit, she exploded in rage. 

“You dare hit him?” Nina made an attempt to throw a slap, but the heavenly stainless steel tray wasn’t done. Hazel connected the edge of the tray to Nina’s jaw and a scream broke out 

“Dirty bitch,” Hazel cussed. 

Hazel’s blood was boiling. She did not know why. For some reason, she was filled with lots of strength. 

At this point, the commotion in the room was being observed through the door Hazel had slammed open when she walked in. There were a lot of spectators. It was quite the sight to see, and many did not want to miss the beatdown.
