Chapter 77: Selene is abducted. 

The video had taken its rounds on the internet, and many had their thoughts about it. Even though the faces in the videos were covered so as not to get sued, they still heard the names of the two families. 

Rich people drama was very interesting to watch so many flooded the social media of the Shaws and the Gregs, Selene’s family, and made comments. 

But when they got no reply from the parties, they wondered why they were keeping quiet. 

It only a few minutes, yet they actually thought Anya, who was still shopping, had seen their comments? She did not even notice anything was going on online. 

But Daniel had seen the video, and he was very pleased with Anya’s response, to say the least. He happily made a post. It read, 

“I am already married. Even if other people want to be mistresses, the door to my house is not a public road.” 

The internet broke into two. Was this really the chairman of the Shaw group? They were only messing around, but he really answered? These families were very low–key. They barely made the news unless business or money was involved. They never thought that the drama would be this juicy. 

Not only did he confirm his marriage publicly, he threw mud at the daughter of the Greg family. 

Many wondered if this meant that two families were falling out. The business magazines soon picked up the news.

The moment the driver had closed the door behind her, she unleashed an ear–splitting scream of pure frustration. 

Her perfectly manicured hands clenched into fists, nails digging into her palms as waves of humiliation and anger crashed over her. 

How could she have been so thoroughly embarrassed? In front of all those gawking strangers was one thing, but Wendy too? That insufferable Anya had set her up. She knew that Wendy was there but did not tell her. 

It took Selene a long time to rein in her emotions enough to regain her composure. She was shaking from head to toe as her driver carefully remained silent. 

He was not new to the job. He had seen his fair share of Selene’s anger. 

Only when her breaths had evened out did he finally speak up in his usual neutral tone. 

“Where shall I tak 

“You next.. 

Selene?” 

“Home,” she bit out through gritted teeth. “I need…I need to make a call.” 

Her hands were still trembling as she dug out her phone and pulled up her mother’s contact info. 

Selene’s jaw clenched as she waited for the line to connect. 

“Mother, it’s me,” she opened tersely once her mother answered. “That girl and Daniel and His mother were there. People were filming. I have… argh.. I just… the country is going to be talking about me.” Selene said.

“Calm down and tell me what happened,” Martha said. 

It took her a while to get over the shame, but she finally told her mother how her 

confrontation went. 

Her mother listened in stunned silence before finally finding her voice. 

“Married? Really married?” Mrs. Greg echoed, aghast. “But how is that possible? You said he used her as bait, so our families were arranging your marriage to him!” 

“I thought he was using her!” Selene moaned, frustrated tears burning her eyes. “I had not heard anything about them being married…but then that woman claimed she and Daniel had been legally married!” 

“Well, Ray clearly didn’t sanction such a thing. Your father would never omit crucial details. like having a new daughter–in–law!” 

Selene proceeded to recount how Daniel’s mother Wendy had appeared and corroborated Anya’s words. She claimed Daniel was married to Anya, leaving no doubt about the truth of Anya’s words. 

“So the Shaw family did know,” Selene concluded bitterly. “Just not Daniel’s grandfather, it seems. I made an absolute spectacle of myself, mother.” 

Before Mrs. Greg could respond, a massive jolt rocked Selene’s car as they were abruptly struck, from behind. Selene’s phone went clattering to the floor of the car as her head snapped back from the force of the impact. 

“Hang on!” The driver shouted, jamming his foot down on the accelerator. The engine roared as they tore away from the scene, but it seemed they were being pursued and their pursuers weren’t about to give up easily. 

A sleek black SUV slammed up behind them with alarming speed, hitting their car bumper with severe force.

Then, in one swift motion, the SUV rammed them head–on again, clipping the front fender.. 

Selene’s car lost its grip on the road as they spun wildly, sliding across the concrete before slamming into a highway barrier with great force. 

Shards of shattered glass exploded inward as the vehicle rolled, the reinforced frame crushing in horrifically around them. 

Selene felt a deep agony tear through her body, but she was unable to stifle a scream as everything hurt when her organs felt the force of the impact. 

When they finally came to a halt, Selene was barely clinging to consciousness. She could barely register the destruction as everything hurt. Every shallow breath sent fresh bolts of painful torment through her battered body. Opening her eyes was too difficult to even attempt. 

Heavy footsteps crunched over the nearby gravel as several shadowy figures approached the wreckage. 

At the sound of their low, rumbling voices penetrating the ringing in her ears, an icy chill 

washed over Selene. 

“Well, about handling it,” a cold voice said. “Call it in, boys. Tell the boss we got her–we are done here.” 

Chapter 22 Selene is abducted 

Terror gripped Selene’s body. Unable to move or speak, she could only listen helplessly as one of the men raised a phone to his ear. 

“We have her, Mr. Shaw,” he stated flatly. “Alive as requested…yes, sir. Right away.” 

At these words, her mind raced. Did Daniel find out what her family did? 

As iron fingers of fear closed around her, Selene prayed Daniel did not find out or else she was dead for sure. 

In the Shaw family home, old Master Greg briskly walked in. 

“Sir, you cannot be here,” the butler tried to stop him by blocking his path. 

“Get out of my way!” Old Master Greg said. 

Ray Shaw emerged from a side study at the commotion. He saw his butler holding old Master Greg back and frowned. 

“Might I ask what the meaning

“Ray, we have been friends for decades.” Chester spat, turning his rage on his old friend. ” Your grandson has crossed the line by abducting my Selene!” 

Ray’s eyes went wide and paused. Daniel was not reckless. He knew that something must have happened. 

“Why would he do this?” Ray asked and took out his phone and called Daniel.

“What happened? I heard you took Selene Greg,” Ray asked. 

“She sold information on Anya to the black market,” Daniel answered, and Ray’s face went dark. He abruptly ended the call and nodded to his men. 

“Take him,” he said, and they surrounded Old Master Greg at once. 

“What nonsense is this?” The old man was genuinely scared. He knew Ray was a playful man, but this was still Ray Shaw. 

He could shout and play with him because he had been around Ray long enough to know not to cross his bottom line. 

“Your granddaughter dares to sell my granddaughter–in–law’s information?” Ray asked, and the old man’s eyes went round. He did not know this. 

That son–in–law of his only said Daniel took Selene and that her mother was on the phone when she was taken.
