Chapter 7
I wrapped an arm around Damien’s neck, pulled out my phone, and snapped a photo of us as I pressed my lips to his cheek. His eyes widened slightly when my lips touched his face.
“I have to share this on my social media, or you’ll run away,” I said. I swiftly posted it before he could react. Then, I opened the food containers he’d brought.
The smell of food wafted out, and I could see everything was still hot. I noticed the dishes were all of my favorites during my college days. There were fish fingers, meatballs, and some other meat dishes and vegetables. They’d been plated exquisitely. I looked at another food container to see broth inside.
I was slightly taken aback, and my eyes reddened. This only lasted briefly, though. I regained my composure almost immediately.
Mom looked at Damien gratefully when she saw me eating happily. She smiled and said, “You’re too kind, Damien. We actually turned back to ask Sera what she wanted to eat, but you already brought her food.”
“It’s no problem, Mrs. York.” Damien smiled politely.
Mom and Dad dragged Damien out of the room while I ate.
Mom said softly, “Sera got into an accident recently and has mistaken you for Jordan, Damien. I’m sorry if she’s caused you trouble–you can ignore her if you want. We’ll handle this.”
“It’s no trouble,” he said without hesitation.
He didn’t stay for long. He returned to his company after receiving a call.
The photo of Damien and me spread throughout our social circle. Jordan saw it, too. He’d just woken up in a hotel room and was savoring the memory of kissing Jessica last night. He was a little disappointed he hadn’t managed to get her in bed, but it indirectly proved her innocence.
She was much better than Seraphine–a thousand times kinder and more naive.
His phone vibrated as he thought about that. He picked it up and glanced at it, seeing that many people had texted him, telling him to check Instagram. He did so and widened his eyes in shock.
Then, he flung his phone aside, shattering it. He slammed a fist on the wall and roared, “Damn it! Seraphine is such a slut!”
Jordan was about to explode with rage. But after the rage passed, he felt rather panicked and uneasy. The feeling slowly spread through him, overwhelming him by the time he arrived at the York residence.
Seraphine treated him better than anyone else, and he was sure she loved him. He’d gotten into a drunken fight with someone during college and had been at a disadvantage because the other party was stronger in numbers. At the time, she’d taken a hit from the enemy to save him.
It had been a strong blow that had broken her rib. She’d spent a long time in the hospital after that. Yet now, she’d kissed Damien. That could only mean that she’d genuinely lost her memories and forgotten about Jordan.
Jordan felt insecure and uneasy, but the feeling disappeared when he saw Damien. The latter was with Seraphine, William, and Lisa, and they looked happy together. He ran toward them and stood in their way, shouting, “Seraphine!”
I looked at him in surprise. The lipstick stain on his collar was the first thing I saw–it was a color that only a young woman would use.
Jordan grabbed Damien by the collar and snarled, “How shameless can you be? Why are you being so nice to Seraphine when she’s my girlfriend? Get the hell out of here!”
As the tension peaked, I stepped forward and shoved Jordan aside. “Don’t touch him!”
I stood before Damien and glared at Jordan.
That took him aback. The look in my eyes was almost exactly like the one I’d had when protecting him in college. The only difference was that I now shielded Damien. “I’m your boyfriend, Seraphine! You’re driving me nuts!” Jordan’s eyes reddened, and he looked at me with heartache.
