Chapter 30: Arrested. 

Lena was too angry to think. She wanted to convict Anya quickly. Lena’s family may not have noticed this, but how could Justin, Lena’s husband not? He had a bad feeling since Mr. Shaw got on stage to announce this project. Everything seemed to be going wrong. 

“What nonsense are you sprouting?” Anya asked 

“We already have enough bank statements, you can step back, Mrs. Stone” Mary addressed Lena before looking back at Anya. 

“This is still a necessary routine. Even though I know this, we still need to conduct our normal routine, so stay calm.” Mary said to Anya, “When we finish searching, we will have you all follow us for questioning. I may know the details, but due process needs to be followed.” 

Anya nodded at her words as though reassured, but this only triggered Lena more. 

“As long as you know Anya is not involved. She will cooperate, right? Anya,” Lena spoke for, but Anya wore a confused expression. It was as though she did not understand half of what Lena had said. Daniel stepped forward and pulled Anya behind him. 

Soon, a half opened gift box was carried into the hall. Mary looked down at the contents and frowned. She immediately looked at Mr Shaw with a frown. 

“Mr Shaw, how did you come to ownership of these things in the box?” she asked him. 

“The box was a gift to me from my in–law, Anya’s mother,” Mr. Shaw answered with a frownL 

“Then, why are there blueprints for the weapons newly introduced by religious radical groups here?” Mary asked and the hall broke into a rush of hush whispers, people were really considering if the Shaw family really worked with terrorists. 

“What do you mean, my mother gave that to me to deliver,” Anya said in a panic 

“Anya, what are you saying?” Lena’s mother mocked, “Are you trying to frame,ur Mother 

too?” 

“But…” Anya looked completely confused. 

“How could we give you weapon blueprints for LLS? Even if your mother gives you a gift, why would it be in your Father–in–laws room?” Lena said and many others seemed to see the point. 

“How do you know it was in his room?” Mary asked and the room paused and Lena felt she had just made a mistake. 

“Anya told me it was in his room,” Lena answered. 

“But this box wasn’t in dad’s room. It was mine,” Anya said in confusion and suspicion started to dance around the room. 

Chapter 20, Amrested 

“Didn’t you say that you gifted this to you? Why was it in your daughter–in–law’s room?” Mary asked. Everyone wanted to know, whose gift was it? 

“It was a gift from her mother to me. But she…” Mr. Shaw hesitated to answer, making others wonder what he could be hiding. 

“Is it because your daughter–in–law forcibly took it back today?” Mary asked and the Shaw family all frowned. 

“Do you have spies here?” Micheal asked darkly. 

“Your security system is tight, So no. Anya and Daniel had a fight and she stormed into the living room and declared she was getting a divorce. She took back the gift her mother gave because she said “you won’t be in laws anymore.” an agent beside Mary said, his voice deep and rough, “The staff talk, you know. They say that Mr. Daniel Shaw stuck to his wife all day after that,” he said with a slight smile. 

With that, Mary turned around and faced Lena’s parents. “Mr and Mrs Hart, Mr and Mrs Stone, you are under arrest for funding and trading with terrorist groups,” Mary took out her handcuffs and started reading them their rights. The crowd as well as Lena’s family. Lena and her husband were shocked at the turn of events. How did it end up like this? 

“No, we did nothing, why are you arresting us?” Lena’s mother protested against her handcuffs? 

“I never said the radical group was the LLS,” Mary said and they all realized Lena had slipped. “Mr Shaw, your family is really lucky today. This was a well built plan to bring your family down today. If your son and daughter–in–law had not fought over that bank account and she turned to her best friend to help close it, we would have thought it belonged to you. But it was strange how they both had their names on the account, yet one of them was not allowed to use the account and the other did not even know it existed,” the agent said, “Just one mistake and their grand plot fell,” 

As the agents made their arrests and started to leave, Mary finally approac them faced each other for a while, but could not utter a word. 

Anya. Both of 

Anya, who had thought she had already come to terms with this betrayal, felt her eyes water as she could barely look at Mary. This was one of the few friends she really had. She barely had time from working to taking care of her mother to have any deep bonds. She had to admit, she was closer to Mary than she was to Lena. 

Mary opened her mouth a few times, but no words came out. She could tell her identity really hurt Anya today. After a while, she left. 

The show was over. Daniel did not wait to see how his father handled things. 

He took Anya away from the crowd and helped her to her room. She did not even bother taking off her dress as she crawled into bed and sobbed for a while. Her cries felt more complicated 

Chapy: 10 Ani 

than Daniel could understand. He crawled into bed behind her and held her as she cried. It took a while before she calmed down. She was at this point nestled on his chest, looking straight at the darkness outside the window. 

“The sea is cold at night,” she said and Daniel froze. He recalled that she had fallen into the sea at night during her abduction. At that time he did not care, but seeing her so broken really hurt him. 

Anya did not have who to talk to. She wanted to say something, but recalled that the person on the bed was Daniel. 

“I am tired,” she said. 

“You should rest,” Daniel said. 

“I am tired of the cruise,” Anya said and Daniel stiffened. 

“We can find something to do tomorrow. There is a cinema on the ship. We could watch a movie,” he suggested. 

Anya struggled out of his embrace and sat up. She looked at Daniel and reminded herself to not be drawn in. This man did not love her. This man did not belong to her. She did not want to forget this and fall for him again. 

“When will our lawyers meet?” Anya asked. Daniel’s face turned cold when he heard this. He sat up and looked her in the eye. 

“Can you forget that for one day? At least till we finish the cruise?” Daniel asked. He also knew they would have to divorce eventually but the way she pushed for it did not sit well with him. It felt like she did not want anything to do with him or his family. It felt as though she was escaping. 

“I prefer to make plans ahead,” Anya said. 

“For what? For dates after you and I are divorced and you are single and free?” Daniel asked. 

“I don’t have the energy for this. Please leave so I can go to sleep,” Anya s. 1, pointing at the 

door. 

“Why? AM I wrong? You are no longer wearing your wedding ring,” he said and Anya paused.

“Why are you so worked up about this? You are the one with a childhood lover who could walk in any moment and your life will be complete,” Anya said and like a prophecy being fulfilled, Selene knocked on the door to Anya’s cabin. 

“Daniel, are you there? I just arrived,” Selene said and Daniel froze.
