Chapter 12: Living with him 

“Why would you buy your room?” Anya asked. He could understand her shock. 

“Why not? I cannot watch you all the time right? You could send out information to who knows who? How else do you expect me to monitor if information leaves this house?” he stepped forward. 

“It can’t be that serious, right?” she asked with a frown. 

“Just this makes you uncomfortable? You should get used to it, it is the new normal. My room is the only room bugged that way because I have important files in there. I could not put in cameras for privacy reasons. But the rest of the house has security cameras” Daniel explained, pointing at the cameras in the living room. 

Anya took a deep breath and nodded. 

“Rule four, you sleep in my room. This will make sure you don’t send anything out I cannot track. So, no matter how uncomfortable you are, rule four stays,” he said and gestured to follow him upstairs. 

In the Jones residence, Old madam Jones smashed a cup. She had never thought that her granddaughter would talk to her that way. 

When did Anya become poisonous in words? Saying it is best to kill her? She actually wished for her death? She had been raging for more than thirty minutes since that phone call and only when she had somewhat calmed down did she walk out the door into the living room, where Kelsey and her mother sat watching a drama. Seeing them unbothered by her anger, fumed all over.

“It seems you are okay, then. There is no need for me to bother about your issues” she said and Kelsey finally noticed that her grandmother was in the room. 

“Grandma, don’t be angry,” she hurriedly consoled, “I was not sure if to go in, because you kept shouting,” she said pitifully. 

“That is fine. Go back to your movie, I am going to bed,” Old Madam Jones turned around to 

leave. 

“Don’t leave yet, what did Anya say? Did she agree to talk to the CEO? What about inviting her to my wedding?” she asked. 

“That girl said she wished me death. She said that if she bothers to come, she will destroy the wedding and you can forget about her talking to your Boss,” Old Madam Jones said and Kelsey and her mother were shocked. 

Anya would even curse at her grandmother? They had thought that if they pulled their 

grandmother into the mix, Anya would have no choice but to show up for the wedding. She

knew that her aunt and Anya had cut off all contact, but she did not really believe that they didn’t still care about grandmother. She was her Aunt’s mother after all. 

If Anya agrees to come to the wedding, she could use this as an excuse to invite the CEO.

She felt that even if her grandmother had failed, there was still hope that she could turn this around by meeting her daughter, Kelsey’s Aunt. From what she remembered about Anya’s mother, she was a soft spoken timid woman. 

“She would dare?!” Old Madam Jones asked in another explosive rage. 

“Yes, look at how much she hates us. What is to stop her?” Kelsey pushed on. 

She hoped her grandmother would not let this go. Even if she failed to get Anya to come to her wedding and express good will, she definitely would not let Anya live a good life. 

“So, there are those trying to bring down my hard work? Do you all know how difficult business has been because of it?” Kelsey’s father, Martin Jones walked into the room fuming 

“What do you mean?” His mother asked. 

“We have this new deal. We have been trying to partner with others, but we are too small a company to qualify. All day, this is what I have been hearing!” he explained in frustration. 

“Is something Wrong with the company?” Kelsey asked hurriedly. She was not the only one that wanted to know. They were considered quite the affluent family for those who were not aware, but in truth they were at most a slightly richer family. 

Their company could not even be considered under one thousand in the city. Kelsey was worried. Her future in–laws were equals to them financially. 

They more or less moved round the same circle. Kelsey already knew that her future mother–in -law only accepted her because their Jones family was not below theirs. If something happens to her father’s company, her marriage could be in jeopardy. 

“We are already having problems. This deal was supposed to get us out of it!” Mr. Jones said, I don’t care what you do. You better stay away from that girl Anya, since she knows Star Tech CEO, or else I will disown you.” he was addressing Kelsey who could not believe her ears at her father’s words. 

“What nonsense are you sprouting!” Kelsey’s mother shouted at her husband, “How can you

say this? Isn’t–Kelsey doing this for our own good? If that girl listens and returns, even you would benefit” 

“Have you forgotten how we cut ties with them? It was at their worst. Would they want to bring us any benefit?” he asked. 

“What about you? Are you also going to blame not pulling money out to treat your sister’s illness on Kelsey too?” Mrs. Jones fumed. 

“Enough! You daughter better not try any tricks, or else I will throw her out,” he said and turned away. 

“It’s fine. I will go and see my daughter tomorrow,” Old Madam Jones said. 

“Mother!,” Martin protested. 

“No matter what, she is still my daughter!” Old Madam Jones said and walked upstairs with determined steps. 

By the time Anya woke the next day, it was deep into the day. She noticed that she was in Daniel’s strong arms as it seemed he was still asleep. She attempted to get up but his grip was strong. She was beginning to wonder if this was a sleeping habit. 

“Where are you going?” he asked. 

“It’s morning already, are we still going to be in bed like this all day?” she asked, baffled by his question. 

“Why not?” he asked mischievously. 

“I am hungry, I need to use the bathroom,” she said and he let her go. She entered the bathroom to clean up quickly. 

By the time Anya walked out, she realized he was gone. This made her sigh in relief. She slowly took care of her matters before coming down. She wasn’t what the rule for food was. She wondered if he would let her use the kitchen. 

But the moment Anya descended to the first floor, a staff member walked over and informed her that Daniel was waiting for her in the dining room to have breakfast. She was led to the dinning where Daniel was seated waiting 

“Sit and eat,” he said and she looked at the food in front of her. She had never seen this much food served as breakfast before for two people. Was someone else joining them? She wondered. 

She slowly took her seat and looked at all the food. She was not sure where she was supposed 

to start. 

“You don’t like anything here? I can have them change to something else,” he said when he saw her hesitation.
