In just a few short hours, the attitude of the man who had harassed Ingrid changed completely. Not only did he apologize, but he also ndteredcompensation.
Ingrid wasn’t the forgiving type, but she had no interest in taking his money
His family was even more generous. They offered to buy her a plot of land in her hometown

Left with no other choice, she called Jasper privately. “Dr. Ciler, sorry to bother you. Are you available right now?
am.” Jasper replied. “What’s the matter?”
Ingrid go straight to the point.
After listening. Jasper said, “Don’t you think it’s too lenient to let him off without asking for anything?”
“You’re the one who put in all the effect,” Ingridieplied “You have the right to demand something, but I don’t.”
Jasper replied, “Well, it’s just that whatever he has, I already have. And what he doesn’t have, I don’t need It’s not that I want to let him off easy–it’s that he has nothing I’d want”
There was no disdain in his voice. It was just a statement of fact
Ingrid tell silent. There was no easy way to respond to that
Jasper spoke again. “If you’re sure you don’t want compensation, then Fill make sure he’s blacklisted in Peacehart.”
“I leave it to you. Dr. Clifford, Ingrid said
“Geez. Enough with the Th. Clifford. We’re the same age. When’s your birthday!”
Ingrid hesitated for a moment before saying, “March”
Jasper chuckled “Mine’s in Jagust. That makes me younger than
you.”
Feeling a lawkward, Ingrid explained, “In the hospital, seniority matters. You’re the department head”
“Aren’t we friend?” Jasper asked
It felt like an imble wall was closing in on her, pressing her into a corner where even breathing became difficult.
She knew there was something more to his words, but she had no choice but to respond, “Yes, we’re friends”
“Then stop being so formal with me,” he said.
“Okay That’s all that I wanted to talk to you about. I’ll let you get back to work Dr. Clifford–uh, Jasper,” Ingrid said.
The moment the call ended, the invisible wall disappeared, and she let out a quiet breath. They were both adults Ingrid wasn’t oblivious to the subtletion between them. Jasper had never once mentioned that night at the hotel. Yet, the more he avoided it, the more she was convinced that he had teregnized her. That was exactly why he had helped her. What was he after? Was he just another colleague looking for a friend with benefits?
Ingrid wasn’t ungraceful, nor did the assume the worst about Jasper. But after being burned once, she wasn’t about to make the same mistake again.
That night, she was on the night shift. Not only were her colleagues treating her differently, but even the patients were odly polite during her rounds.
wanted to explain that she had nothing to do with Jasper. She wasn’t planning to use his influence to her advantage either. She was fine working the galing night shifts.
Most importantly, she had every intention of staying far away from everyone’s crush in the hospital it wasn’t as if the hospital would actually maku jasper take the night shift, right? Ar 1:30 am, Ingrid was at the nurse’s station jotting down notes when she heard someone say from beside her, “Dr, Clifford“
She instinctively looked up, only to see Jasper standing right in front of her.
Meeting her startled gate, he said, “Dr. Brown had a family emergency. I’m covering his shit.”
The right or somedical staff at the nurse’s station turned to look at Ingrid
Ingrid panicked Way was Jasper speaking directly to her with so many people around? It felt like he was explaining himself to her alone.
She only passed for a second before masking her frustration with composure. Standing up, she said, “I’ll let Dr. Be own know you’re here.”
Jasper walked out with her. When she returned to the nurse’s station, everyone had the heads down, seemingly focused on their work. No one was gossiping. Ingrid’s heart sank.
