Chapter 7 Don’t Blame Me for Being Bude
Chapter 7 Don’t Blame Me for Being Rude
Ingild wasn’t arrow–minded, but she certainly didn’t think as broadly as Jasper. She returned home, but sleep was far from her mind
Meanwhile, her colleague, Xena Watson called her secretly. “What’s going on?1 heard De Cliffend beat up VIP7’s patient?”
Ingrid didn’t answer immediately. Instead, the asked, “How’s the surgerying?”
Xena replied. “Mr. Geppard is performing the surgery. It’s still ongoing, but I’m keeping an eye on it. I saw Dr. Clifford and Dr. Zinmerman in the office just now.”
Ingrid went silent
Xena lowered her voice. “Tell me the truth. What’s going on between you and Dr. Clifford?”
Ingrid tried hard to force hell to stop thinking about that night, but the image of the dark hotel, the soft bed, and the synchronized sound and visuals played in her mind
Without giving herself time to hesitate, she blurted, “Dr. Chuterd has only been here for a short time. What could possibly be between us?”
Xema responded, “Then why did he step in to beat up that man for you?
Ingrid wondered why herself too. She was about to say that Jasper was a good person when Xena interrupted ber.
“Please don’t tell me he did it just because he’s a good person.”
Ingrid hestrated before replying, “That man was blocking me downstairs, and Dr. Clifford stepped in to help me. He’s a good person, but he’s just unlucky.”
Xena shot back, “Are you crazy? Do you really think anyone would do that for a stranger? Even a boyfriend might hesitate. A doctor hiring a patient—even if the Clifford has the connections to handle it, it’ll still become a major gossip if it gets out.
“You’re not even close to him, so why would he help you like this? It’s more than just him being a good guy–he must’ve been really angry.”
Ingrid frowned. “Can you stop adding fuel to the fire? It’s bad enough as it is.”
Xema retorted, “Ingrid, you think this is just me talking? It’s not just the department, it’s the whole hospital. Everyone’s speculating about your relationship with Dr. Clifford
Ingrid’s heart raced. Even though she wasn’t married to Jasper and they hadn’t had a serious relationship, a one–night stand between consenting achiles shouldn’t be scandalous. But what if
If it did, she would never be able to stay in Peaceheart, and fasper would live in the shadow of everyone’s gossip.
¤ rude!
Ingrid immediately added, “We had no relationship before, but after this, if any talks behind Dr. Clifford’s back in front of me, don’t blame me for being r
She had always been the kind to get along with everyone in Peaceheart. It was the first time Xena saw her snap, and instinctively, she said, “I haven’t said anything bad about Dr. Clifford.”
Ingrid realized her tone had been a bit harsh. She quickly calmed herself and said, “Let me know once the surgery is over.”
Xena teplied, “Okay, I’ll let you know what happens with Dr. Clifford.”
Ingrid didn’t decline, and the call ended. She sat on the couch, exhausted from the night shift but unable to sleep.
She believed Jasper when he told her he wasn’t just talking nonsense, but no matter how skilled a doctor was, facing an influential thog was always tricky. After all, it was Jasper who started the fight
Ingrid’s mind raced, trying to come up with a solution, but in the end, she could only hate herself for not being capable enough. She had no choice but to wait for the outcome
An hour later, her phone rang with an unfamiliar number. She almost hung up, but something about the amber made her think it wasn’t a sales call.
She answered, “HeL-
A familiar male voice came through. “This is Jasper.”
Ingrid paused. “Dr. Clifford“”
Jasper replied, “I figured you hadn’t rested yet, so I wanted to let you know that the surgery was successful Everything went smoothly
Ingrid exhaled in relief. She instinctively said, “Thank you.”
“What are you thanking me for? Mr.Geppard did the surgery,” Jasper said.
Ingrid explained, “I heard you went to see. Zimmerman. How is the department handling this?”
Jasper asked, “An‘ you tired?”
Ingrid immedurely responded, “Is it that the outcome hasn’t been decided yet?”
Jasper chuckled “No I just thought you had a long night shift, so there’s no rush. I figured I’d wait until you woke up to tell you”
Ingrid inwardly thought that it was no wonder Jasper grew up being treated like a gendas–he probably had no idea what anxiety felt like. Who could sleep at a time like this?
She almost said more, but instead, the asked, “If you can share, please let me know.”
you comparin. The department has aho given a solution
Jasper answered, “The family of the injured person has arrived at the hospital and plans to apologize to you in person when you Cooper will be dismissed”
