Chapter 36
The partner at Golden Concord, an alumnus of Dunville University’s low school, had heard about Yasmin stepping down from the project team and called to ask her why.
“It’s due to some personal reasons.” Yasmin didn’t want to reveal too much
“Yasmin, work isn’t like school. In your career, some opportunities will never come again if you miss them. I heard you were injured, so I’m giving you a week off. I hope you’ll give me an answer by next Monday. You’re very capable, and if it were anyone else, I wouldn’t offer this opportunity.”
Thank you I’ll think it ever carefully,” Yasmin replied, understanding fully what the partner meant
She could only complete her training in the project team for Mayford Acquisition. However, she needed to handle her relationship with Caleb carefully if she wanted to return to the team. Otherwise, she’d have no chance of rejoining.
Gracie’s birthday celebration was on Saturday. Harris knocked on Yasmin’s door on Friday morning
“Mrs. Grant, Mr. Grant asked me to pick you up and bring you to the Grant residence.”
Yasmin replied sarcastically, “When did you start doing assistant work? The banquet is tomorrow. I’ll be there on time,
Harris continued smiling, saying, “You know the Grant family has many rules. Close relatives are expected to arrive today. In fact, Mr. Grant Senior has also requested that you and Mr. Grant retur early to accompany Mrs. Grant Senior.”
Yasmin couldn’t refuse Benjamin and Gracie’s request.
The Maybach was parked downstairs. Harris opened the back door for her.
As Yasmin satin, Caleb, who had been reviewing a document on his tablet, glanced up for a moment.
“After the birthday banquet, I’ll have a word with Mrs. Grant Senior, Caleb. I hope your lawyer will be available by then,” Yasmin said calmly.
It had to be after the banquet to avoid ruining Gracie’s birthday
Caleb litted his gaze, his eyes meeting hers.
“Is something wrong?
Yasmin was already laughing in frustration early in the morning “Caleb, you wouldn’t be going back on your word again, would you? Is that some kind of specialty you men have?* Caleb pointed at his tablet and said, “I’m in a meeting.”
Yasmin noticed the small video call window in the lower–right corner of the screen, which had been obscured by Caleb’s band earlier.
“Mr.Grant? a man called out hesitantly.
Yasmin was lost for words. Did the other person hear what she said?
It seemed like Caleb hadn’t heard what the other person s said. He turned to Yasmin and asked, “When have I ever gone back on my words?”
Yasmin almost choked. Why was he asking this?
She shot an annoyed glance at Harris, who had failed to warn her. Both he and Caleb were in on this, conspiring together to create this awkward mess!
Harris looked at Yasmin innocently
She didn’t speak for the rest of the journey
The Grant residence was nestled amidst picturesque mountains and waters, built in traditional architectural style with sprawling grounds, ornate carvings, and lavish decorations that exuded grandeur and elegance.
Several luxury cars were already parked outside, with the household staff taking care of the parking.
Yasmin got out of the car and bent down to grab the gift she had prepared. Before she could reach out, someone ahead of her swiftly took the box from her hands, holding it with one arm while grabbing her
hand with the other.
“Caleb, what”
Yasmin instinctively tried to pull her hand away, just then, a female voice called out cheerfully, “Caleb!”
A young woman in a designer gown happily walked over, adorned with a diamond necklace. She had a doll–like face with large eyes, bangs, and a princess–style updo. She gave off a cute and spoiled charm.
Caleb didn’t budge and tightened his grip on Yasmin’s hand. As they walked forward, they continued to
tug at each other’s hands, the silent struggle lingering between them.
When someone passed by, Yasmin stopped struggling and smiled.
