Chapter 25
“I don’t want to show you Yasmin hid her injured hand behind her back, her bright eyes filled with a stubborn defiance, almost like wilful teenager.
“Even if I shared you, it wouldn’t make a difference.”
She then thought to herself, “You can’t heal my wound, and you can’t undo the pain you’ve caused me”
The surrounding guests exchanged glances upon hearing the
Suddenly, a well–dressed woman chuckled and spoke up, “Veronica, I just asked you earlier whether you came with Caleb, and you said yes, didn’t you? So, was that a lie?”
“ve?Dd1?” Veronica’s face stiffened slightly, but she forcetasmile. “Yamstvemåbrard. I just happened to run into Caleb at the entrance, so we walked in together”
Veronica had actually arrived much earlier and had deliberately waited by the entrance for Caleb so that they could enter side by side Naturally, it gave people the impression that they hadcome together. That was exactly what she wanted to make the public believe she had an intimate relationship with Caleb
tnem did she expect Yasmin to expose her so openly. Even more humiliading, Caleb didn’t even try to cover for her!
Though the other guests remained silent, their curious glances at Verenica carried layers of meaning.
Regardless of han Yamin had ended up in this position, she was still Caleb’s legitimate wife and was fully recognland by the Grant family.
Meanwhile, Verenica’s petty tricks made her look no different from those sluts outside who schemed to climb into the beds of other people’s husbands to secure a higher
Suddenly, acheerful male veice suddenly cut in “Yasmin and Caleb get along just don’t know who’s out here spreading rumoral”

Veronica tumed to see Jeremy appearing out of nowhere. For a brief moment, Veronica wanted to yell at him, but she forcibly swallowed the urge.
Yasmin, on the other hand, simply gave Jerem abewildered look. Helted his chin proudly, flashing a self–satisfied expression as if to say, “You don’t need to thank me.”
She then thought, “Wait, which part of my relationship with Caleb looks great to you?”
Caleb glanced at jeremy but didn’t rehte him Instead, his gate subcly drifted back to Yasmin.
“Jeremy, what are you doing here?” Veronica tried to brush him of “Didn’t Dad hire a tutor for you? Shouldn’t you be in foreign language class right now?
my, who had recently dyed his hair a trendy silver–gray, ruffled the hair on his head and said, “I don Lunderstand a word of that language, so 1 figliced I’d come watch the
Veronica, attempting to portray herself as a gentle and kind sister, told him, “Jeremy, you’re going to be working soon. You should take your studies seriousty”
He looked at her Eke she was speaking complete nonsense.
“Work? Our family’s filthy nach Why do I need to work?” He scoffed. “The world full of trust–hand kids, so why can’t I be one of them? Even if I worked for a month, my paycheckwouldn’t even cover a single meal. Do you think Dad would dare let me into the company? What if I mess everything up?”
Hearing this, both Veronica and Yain were rendered speechless.
Tamin had always known that her younger half–brother, Jeremy, was a spoiled brat. But she never realized he had such strong self–awareness about in
Jeremy even dragged Caleb into the conversation. With absolute confidence, he tumed to Caleb and asked, “Right, my dear brother–in–Lre?”
To everyone’s utter shock, carb nodded in agreement.
And he meant it
The Grant family was massive, with over a dozen cousins in Caleb’s generation alone. At least eight out often were just like jeremy–seless trust fund kids.
s only requirement for them was to spend their money quietly and don’t cause trouble
Veronica, bearing Jeremy repeatedly call Caleb his “brother–in–le“, was so furious that she nearly lost control. But she quickly shitted her focus to Yasmin
“Yasmin, your injuries haven’t healed yet. You really shouldn’t be going out so much. It’d be terrible if you accidentally hurt yourself again.”
To Veronica, Yasmin simply shouldn’t be here at all today.
Brenda nearly cursed out loud. Who was responsible for Yasmin’s injuries in the first place?
A cold sneer flashed through Brenda’s eyes as she suddenly spoke up, “Veronica, that dress of yours the exact same style as Yasmin’s?
The people around had previously been drawn in by the words and actions of Yasmin and the others.
At first, because both dinises were a soft white and Yasin and Veronica were different jewelry, no one;
no one paldi
d much attention.
But now that Brenda pointed it out, diry realand the two dresses were identical!
And yet. Yasmin somehow looked bester in it
The saying held true it wasn’t a fashion faux pas to wear matching outfits, but being the one who looked worse in it was.
“Oh, what a coincidence!” Veronica just realized this feriell. Her attention had been completely on Caleb the entire time.
Brenda smirked. “This isn’t a coincidence. Yasmin’s dress is a vintage haute couture plecerom 1998. duly live sets exist worldwide, and I personally know the owners of the other four. So, tell me She passed, her smile widening. “Where exactly did yours come from?”
Veronica’s face twisted in
rent. She forced here to stay calm and replied, “Ms. Rhodes, what do you mean by that?
6? You don’t understand Authentic vintage haute couture pieces are traceable. So, tell me what exactly are you wearing?”
Now that everyone was looking closely, they could um 11.
Yasmin’s own had a superior sheen, its pleats flowed more elegantly, and the pearls and diamonds were arranged with expert craftsmanship. In contrast, Veronica’s looked like
just a cheap knockoff in comparbon.
-This dress was borrowed from my agent. 1 – I don’t know where I came from,” Veronica utamuuered, suddenly panicking
The truth was, she had bought a high–qualry replica of Yasmin’s gown. It had cost her a fortune, and the seller had sworn no one would be able to tell the difference!
Chapter 25
“The way you dodge the blame is straight out of celebrity FR playbook,” Brenda sneered. “Veronica, why don’t you mind your own business instead of obsessing over others?”
She had one goal tonight–to humiliate Veronika!
At that moment, an announcement sounded. The auction was about to begin.
Brenda and Yasmin took their seats, not even sparing Veronica a glance.
Meanwhile, Veronica was on the verge of tears. She didn’t dare look at the other guests, nor did she have the courage to glance at Caleb. She only felt an unbearable sense of disgrace. She wanted to rip the dress off her body, but she had no choice. She had nowhere else to turn
Out of all the people in the world, she hated dealing with Brenda the most.
Veronica both envied and looked down on Brenda. She envied Brenda for having parents who loved her unconditionally. Despite being a daughter, her parents had never felt the need to try for a son. Instead, they gave Brenda the absolute confidence and boldness to act however she pleased.
At the same time, Veronica looked down on Brenda’s arrogance and reckless nature.
To her, Brenda lacked the refinement and grace expected of a proper socialite, making her completely out of place among them.
“Veronica, our seats are over there.” Jeremy pointed to the right, indicating their assigned seats.
As soon as he spoke, he turned his head and noticed something–Caleb’s seat was positioned right between Yasmin and Veronica
Just as Veronica was about to feel pleased that she’d be sitting near Caleb, Jeremy casually took her seat instead. Then, Jeremy turned to her with a grin and said, “Veronica, I want to sir with Caleb tonight!”
Veronica was so close to curship out loud.
