Caleb’s voice suddenly turned icy cold as if he was desperately suppressing something.
Even though his expression remained emotionless, his overwhelming presence still made people afraid to meet his pace
But Yasmin wasn’t afraid of him. She tied her head and chuckled “What’s wrong, Caleb? Are you so domineering that you won’t even allow your employees to seek medical attention? Or is it that you won’t let your own wife go to the hospital?
Caleb took a deep breath, forcing himself to stay calm as Yasmin was injured.
“Yasmin, I’ll take you to the best doctor,” Caleb said, his voice slightly panicked. Then, he added, “Right now.”
Yasmin took a step back and shook her head “Caleb, don’t you get it? From the moment you chose to shield Veronica, I had already decided never to choose you again.”
She then thought to herself, “Just like how you chose to put your pants back on and walk away to take care of Veronica, I’m now choosing to divorce you!”
The deep disappointment in Yasmin’s eyes pierced through Caleb’s heart, making his chest feel unbearably suffocated. He wanted to explain that Yasmin had been in his blind spot just now, so he had instinctively protected Veronica. If only he had seen Yasmin….
He really hadn’t done it on purpose.
Fortunately, Yasmin’s burn wasn’t too serious.
The chowder wasn’t scalding hot, and the immediate icing had helped reduce the heat. Even so, blisters still formed.
At the hospital, the doctor carefully drained them, applied medication, and bandaged the wound, advising her to change the dressing in a week.
Adrian had been unusually quiet, completely different from his usual confident and charismatic self.
“Adrian, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to keep this from you. My situation with Caleb is…complicated. I really didn’t want to drag you into this mess.”
Since the divorce was inevitable, Yasmin hadn’t seen the point in broadcasting her marriage to the world, Who could’ve predicted today’s mess?
Adrian forced a smile, looking at her with a mix of guilt and regret “Yasmin, please don’t say that. It’s my fault for not realizing your relationship with Caleb sooner.”
Adrian gazed deeply at Yasmin, hesitating multiple times before finally asking, “Yasmin… are you doing okay?”
“Huh?” Yasmin was momentarily stunned. She hadn’t expected him to still be worried about her. A wave of warmth and bittersweet emotion filled her heart.
She smiled and nodded. “I’m doing fine, Adrian. Thank you. You’re truly a great person!”
Adrian didn’t have the courage to ask why Veronica was the one standing next to Caleb if Yasmin was his wife
Why was Caleb’s scandal with Veronica something everyone knew about?
Why did Caleb and Veronica act so intimately in public?
Secrets of the wealthy were never meant to be shared with outsiders, and Adrian didn’t want to put Yasmin in an awkward position.
When Brenda found out that Yasmin had hurt her hand, she immediately rushed to Grant Group to pick her up.
Yasmin wrapped up her work, completed the handover, and left early
The moment Brenda saw Yasmin’s hand wrapped in bandages, her heart ached for her.
She stood outside Grant Group and spent 30 minutes loudly cursing out Caleb, calling him by name. Her voice was so loud that security had to step in.
“I can’t believe Caleb actually let you go to the hospital with another man! Is he even a man?” Brenda fumed.
Yasmin said, clearly enjoying the drama, “He didn’t want to at first, but Veronica’s left hand suddenly started twitching, scaring her out of her wits. She turned pale and immediately started crying, begging Caleb to take her to the hospital.”
“And then he just took her? Brenda was both shocked and furious..
She went right back to cursing Caleb for another ten minutes.
Yasmin let out a long sigh. “Too bad I’ll have to show up at the auction tomorrow with my hand all wrapped up like this.”
Tomorrow was the quarterly auction at Dunville Auction House where the emerald bead necklace that Veronica and Wanda had sold off would be going up for bidding. “What’s wrong with it? You look so cute like this?” Brenda buited.
“Just wait. I’ll make sure you’re the most stunning person at the auction. You’ll turn heads and steal the show!” Brenda added confidently.
