Her leg was hurting terribly. But at least the pain wasn’t confined to just one spot–if she took a deep breath, she could endure it
In the elevator, she caught a glimpse of herself in the minor–disheveled and pathetic. Her eyes welled with tears.

But she had only been here twice before, always getting dropped off right at the entrance she had no real sense of direction in this unfamiliar area.
Cynthia loowed the only quiet road for a while, but the surroundings didn’t look like the kind of place where she’d findan open store.
The sound of tires rolling over asphalt suddenly came from behind her. Cynthia turned her head, recognized the car, and immediately looked away.
A custom black Rolls–Royce drove forward at a slow pace. Colin rolled down the window, his voice indifferent. “What did I even say to you?”
With one hand resting on the wheel, his gaze shifted from the road to her. “It looks to me like you’re just feeling guilty”
Cynthia stopped in her tracks and glared at him, furious. “Who’s feeling guilty? Do I look guilty to you?”
Colin was briefly surprised by her outburst but quickly returned to his usual indiferentexpression. “If you’re not guilty, then why are you running?”
His words made it sound like it was somehow her fault. But she hadn’t done anything wrong.
“What? Am I supposed to stay and be mocked?” said Cynthia. She tried to keep her emotions in check, but her voice still shook with anger.

Cynthia soddenly found herself at a loss for words. She sniffed, trying to hold back any trace of vulnerability. “I don’t need your care.”.
Colin let out a cold laugh. “Of course. In your world, Brian is the only person who matters to you”
Cynthia became silent. She couldn’t have a proper conversation with Colin Frustrated, she turned to leave, but before she could take a step, a hand grasped her wrist from behind.
Colin’s palm was warm and steady. He wasn’t using much force, yet his grip was firmenough to hold her in place
“Think it through. The problem happened on any end. I’m offering a chance to resolve it once and for all,” said Colin.
Cynthia suddenly remembered William mentioning the contract signing over the phone earlier. Colin was likely referring to her involvement in that matter.
Logic and emotion clashed in her mind She understood the profit–driven priorities in the business industry. But she had barely stepped into the real world and was already seeing its ugliness. She wasn’t sure she could stomach it so easily.
beside her, Colin’s voice cut through the silence again. “Whether you sign or not makes no difference to me. It this matter doesn’t concern you, then I have nothing to lose.” With that, he let go of her wrist, leaving the decision in her hands.
Cynthide was surprised by his attitude. She wanted to confirm it for truly meant what he said.
But Colin had no patience to coar her any further. “Have you come to your senses, or are you still planning to leave?” asked Colin. His gaze dropped to her bare feet dicking his tongue, he added, “No one here is going to feel sorry for you.”
