Chapter 11 it No Fun
Chapter It Is No Fun
“Bully you?” Colin asked in return, “Do 1 look like I’m having fun?”
Cynthia felt what she said was unjustified she could not clearly tell if he was asking her the question, either
Usually, the safest bet in a situation like that was to say nothing.
colin felitated. He threw the cigarette along the hallway and walked back in with a hand in his pocket. It was written all over every fiber of his being that he was upset.
By the time Cynthia returned to the table, there was already a fresh batch of people sitting there. They were playing a different game as well.
Kyle pulled a person out of his seat again to let Cynthia sit at the table. He was being friendly as he teased, “You can hold your drink quite well.”
Cynthia looked at his gaze, which was as sly as a fox, and she could not tell if he meant it or not. She decided to let it go. Saying nothing, she grabbed the cards. It was a game that she knew how to play a little.
The middle–aged man on her left, who was in a suit, kept surveying her.
Cynthia had been stared at ever since she appeared with Colin, so she was already used to it.
The man hesitated as he asked, “Ms, Sutton, have you been looking for internship opportunities lately?”
Cynthia was slightly taken aback. She looked at the man, but it did not ring a bell
The man could tell from her response that he did not mistake her for someone else. He smiled and said, “I’m in charge of the human resources department at firal. I think I’ve seen your résumé before, but I wonder if my memory serves me right”
Cynthia was not good at lying. Her expression had already answered the question honestly before she could say anything. It was true that she had gone to firal for an interview. Kyle sighed. “You want to work? What a motivated person you are! Why are you wasting your energy sending out your résumé? Just go to Colin.”
He gestared at Colin with his chin and continued, “All it takes is for Mr. Jenkins to just say the word ”
It was Colin’s tum to play. He just threw the cards on the table, creating a soft thud.
Cynthia quickly said, “1–Iwas just giving it a try.”
At first, she wanted to get into firal with her own ability and give Brian a surprise. She had always hoped to join the company as soon as possible to give him a hand. She was about to graduate, and Brian was soon to be married.
The man was incredibly great at reading the room, so he said, “You have an impressive résume. What a bright future you have.
“oh, right! You seem to be quite good at Helmsgardian. The foreign trade sector of final has been collaborating with companies from Helmsgard lately. Perhaps you can come and give Mr. Jenkins a hand.”
Cynthia quickly glanced at Colin.
The man thought of something and continued, “The future for that sector is way promising Mr. Shears was quite ambitious about it in the past, but unfortunately, he was not supported by many. It was tough for him to make a step.
“He had been holding his position for a few years now, but there was no way for him to take a step further. We needed Mr. Jenkins to step in.”
Cynthia held her cards tight. She had no idea what kind of pressure Brian was facing at the company. However, she could imagine judging by the countless times Brian had returned home early in the morning, looking exhausted and reeking of alcohol.
Brian had poured his heart and soul into Jiral However, there were still people who treated his hard work as a joke behind his back.
Cynthia could not help but frown. She lost control of her emotions and dropped one of her cards on the table.
Her reaction cut the man off
Colin, who was sitting across from Cynthia, looked up slowly and showed his cards.
Cynthia’s reaction was a little delayed, and she was a little shocked. She glanced around before she nervously stared at Collin.
“Twin.” After Colin vealed his cards, he got up, grabbed his jacket on the back of the seat, and left.
He had lost all of his interest. It seemed as if he had not heard what the man had said earlier at all. He just looked as indifferent as usual, Cynthia quickly went after him.
Kyle could not understand why Colin was upset, so be followed him to the door and asked, “Nobody of lended you, right? What does this mean?” “Nothing” Colin exhaled a puff of snake as he walked on the stony path with big strides
He did not have an umbrella. The snow at night was falling onto him. He looked at a live portrait created by the maker.
Cynthia had to admit that Colin was extremely handsome. He was good–looking but dangerous.
She hung her head and saw that the snowflakes beneath her feet had turned into a big slush after they were trampled on Indeed, it was no fun at all.
