Chapter 17
As expected, Samuel’s expression turned gloomy, and he stared at me intensely. I had never seen.
that expression on his face before; there was rage and a little bit of interest in his gaze.
Ignoring him, I walked away with my cane.
Yet Samuel carried me and strode toward his car. Then, he shoved me into the back seat.
I was a little surprised.
I thought that after my threats, Samuel would be worried that I’d say something to Yvette, so he’d
let me leave. Unexpectedly, he still carried me into his car.
“You’re blind. If you get out, you might be hit by a car and die.” His expression remained upset When he sneaked a peek at me through the rear–view mirror, I continued looking aloof.
On the other hand, Yvette sounded frightened. “You’re scaring me, Samuel. Your voice is too fierce.
I noticed that Samuel hesitated before he gave her a gentle look.
I didn’t know why he was angry. He even ignored Yvette earlier. Normally, he would be very obedient and gentle to her.
“I’m sorry, Yvie,” Samuel replied softly. “I won’t do that again, I promise.”
Meanwhile, I looked out of the window in disgust. Though he scolded me, he apologized to Yvette carefully.
Of course, it didn’t matter whether he apologized to me or not because I wouldn’t show him mercy
no matter what
“Don’t be mad at Samuel, Juliet. He cares about your safety. I’ve never seen him care this much
about a woman before.”
Yvette turned and smiled at me from the passenger seat.
Suddenly, Samuel fell silent and stared at me through the rear–view mirror. His silence surprised. Yvette a little.
Yvette WES
I watched as her eyebrows furrowed slightly, and she started frowning. unhappy because Samuel didn’t give her a proper explanation.
In the past, no matter how many times she behaved pretentiously, Samuel would hurriedly explain to her. He would say things like, “I don’t care about her. I just pity her Don’t misunderstand, Yvie.”
I had heard those words countless times.
Why didn’t he say them that day?
Instead, he looked rather gloomy while I kept quiet
“When will we reach my university, Mr. Jackman? I have urgent matters to attend to.”
When I looked out the window, I realized that we weren’t heading back to my university. Yet I couldn’t question him directly because I had to pretend to be blind.
If Samuel found out that I could see again, he might torture me and make me blind again.
Samuel glanced at me and said, “You still have to wait. I need to send Yvie to the hospital.”
With that, Yvette looked less upset.
“Send me back to the university!” I raised my voice indifferently.
Since Yvette was around, Samuel didn’t fly into a rage. However, he narrowed his eyes and looked at me. “You have no right to make demands.”
I recalled what he told me earlier. He said that he wanted to bring me to the house he bought for me. After sending Yvette to the hospital, he would probably send me there.
Feeling for the car door, I realized it was locked.
Seeing this, Samuel laughed disdainfully. It felt as if he was mocking me. He was mocking me for being so foolish to hope that I could jump out of the car. It seemed as if he was jeering at me because he could easily do whatever he wanted to me.
Just then, Yvette said apologetically, “I’m sorry, Jules.”
Once again, she scolded Samuel, “I understand why Jules is so upset. She just visited her parents‘ graves. I don’t even know where my real parents are, so I empathize with how she feels.”
