Chapter 46
Derek leaves the restaurant with a heavy heart and a throbbing headache and throat. He fights to maintain his composure as he walks toward the car to head to the hotel as soon as possible to get his EpiPen.
The thought of escaping her mother’s sight, putting as much distance between himself and his mother as possible, offers him a small comfort.
As he approaches the car, he sees his mother standing by a sleek black car, her back straight and her demeanor regal. Next to her is a man Derek instantly recognizes. His heart sinks. It’s Richard Turner, the corporate rival he despises.
Derek has heard his mother talk about Turner often–always with admiration, always implying that he is the perfect example of a business tycoon and success. Also someone who Derek wants to kill with cruelest way after his parents.
Richard Turner turns as Derek draws closer, a predatory smile spreading across his face. “Well, well,” Turner says, his voice oozing with false friendliness. “If it isn’t Derek. It’s been a while.
Derek forces himself to meet Turner’s gaze, his clenched jaw barely containing his rage. “Richard,” he replies coldly. “Nice to see you.”
His mother, clearly pleased by the interaction, smiles at Derek. “Richard and I are just discussing some business prospects,” she says. “He’s been kind enough to share his insights with me.”
Turner’s smile widens, and he extends a hand towards Derek. “Always a pleasure to see someone from the family. I hear you’ve been working on some interesting projects. Maybe you and I should have a chat about future collaborations.”
Derek’s stomach churns. The thought of any professional dealings with Turner makes him feel sick. He wants to refuse, to walk away, but he knows how to play the game. His mother will use this as another opportunity to criticize him if he shows any sign of dissent.
“I’m sure we could discuss it,” Derek says through gritted teeth, shaking Turner’s hand with forced politeness. “But right now, I need to get going.”
Turner’s eyes
flicker with amusement, as if he’s enjoying Derek’s discomfort. “Of course. Another time, then.” His gaze fingers on Derek for a moment longer before he turns his attention back to Derek’s mother. “I look forward to our meeting
next week.”
Derek nods curtly and turns away, leaving as soon as possible before his wolf goes berserk.
However, his eyes widely open when he hears something, “It’s been a while since I met Benedetta! I wonder if she is still available for me. She promised!” Richard turns towards Derek with the wicked smile on his face,” She would date me once she was ready to reject her mate!”
Derek’s jaw clenches as some old memories flashes in his mind. All those years of hatred that he bottled up for Benedetta is related to Richard Turner, A dominating Alpha who was with Benedetta all the time.
But Derek chooses to remain silent. Right now, his priority is different from the past. And he isn’t going to be shaken up with some unpleasant unwanted presence.
Seeing Derek leaving silently, the corner Turner’s lips arise with an evil grin.

“What are you trying to say? You can’t be foolish enough to think he is the one!” Mrs Armstrong coldly asks. She is fine with dark humor but everything has its limits.
“Aunt! You seem to be offended by my words. Have you forgotten about your son who died because you put that spell on him to hide his real identity? Don’t need to be ignorant!” He says in a serious tone, “We can’t risk our identity and everything we have built to protect our clan, because of an unwanted existence. If your son shows any sort of threat against us, we will do whatever we need to. Please be careful!”
Mrs Armstrong grits out, just heading back to her car.
She hates when people judge her ways to handle things.
However, both of them didn’t notice from a bit far away, Vincent, is staring at Richard with his brows knitting.

In the evening,
Jasmine is kinda furious about Derek leaving her alone and checking another room to stay instead of the preassigned rooms for them.
She follows Leon who is heading to Derek’s apartment silently.
As he almost opens the door, Jasmine stops calling him, ” Beta Leon! Is Alpha Spencer inside?”
She asks coldly, visibly upset.
“Yes!” He responds honestly.
“Good!” She tries to enter the room but Leon stops her immediately, “Alpha specifically asked me to not let anyone enter the room. So please!”
“Beta Leon! Don’t forget! I am his wife!” She roars, eyes flicking Anger.
I apologize. No matter what I can’t disobey Alpha. He asks to rest. So-!”
When Jasmine realizes there is no way of fighting, she holds the coffee cup that she has been holding.
“I wanted to give it to him. Give it to him on my behalf! If he asks for me, tell him that I will be in a bar nearby. I should enjoy myself as a person before everything!” She said bitterly since Derek didn’t even care about joining the dinner since the first night.

Jasmine watches the door closing with a smirk on her face.
After she leaves, a knock on the door makes Leon turn towards the door. When he opens the door slightly, he notices Vincent standing there with a concerned expression!
“I need to meet Spencer!”
“Sorry! You can’t right now!” Leon politely informs.

Vincent clenches his jaw realizing that he entered at the wrong time. But he stands up against the strong pressure around his body and walks towards the door.
“Your scent is always a disgusting annoyance.” Vincent grunts, pushing himself towards the door.
An Alpha can’t tolerate another Alpha’s rut. They find it annoying to their wolf since it’s an awakening period for the wolves.
Leon, who is standing in a safe distance, sighs,” He is sleeping right now. He has a fever because of an allergic reaction. I don’t think he will wake up soon.
“Damn. Richard is here. So is Benedetta! What if he does something to Benedetta? He once wanted to hurt her. If she didn’t run that day, something might have happened. What if it repeats –!”
Vincent jumps on his spot and hisses when the door behind opens loudly.
He carefully turns his head, only to find Derek standing behind him, his eyes bloody and the grunting sound of his heavy breath echoing in the room.
His body is shaking, releasing thick pheromones around. ” Repeat!” He commands, his voice heavy and deep.
“Wh–What?” Vincent steps back, his appearance suffocating.” Have some suppressors before coming out of the room!” He said, taking a safe distance. In their rut, they become berserk and aggressive. So it’s better to keep distance as another Alpha. “Repeat what you said! Richard did what?” He asks, his voice cold but shaky.
Vincent frowns narrowly and then says, “I am talking about that time. Don’t you remember? Jasmine pushed Benedetta in the pond and Richard grabbed her waist to humiliate her in front of everyone. You said that Jasmine lost that Pendant on that day but it was Jasmine who accidentally dropped the pendant in the water! Did you forget about it after you married that witch? I am telling you- you are a fool!”
“What… What are you talking about? Didn’t… !” He collapses as his rut and fever both attack him together, “Didn’t Richard and Benedetta date when –?”
Date? Fuck! What are you talking about? After you abandoned her for that bitch, Richard always bullied her and constantly tried to humiliate her. That’s why she took different subjects so that she doesn’t have to face that bastard!” Vincent said but in middle, he pauses,
