Chapter 27
“Why don’t you take a look for yourself,” Matthew said with a smile.
Nelly opened the envelope and saw that it was a marriage certificate. She looked at Matthew in bewilderment.
“This is a marriage certificate?” she stammered.
“That’s right. You said you wanted to marry me,” Matthew replied indulgently.
Nelly lowered her head and stared at the marriage certificate. She couldn’t believe that she would actually get married.
She looked up at Matthew. “Even though we’re married, you can’t make it public because I’m still in college. Also, you can’t force me to do anything I
don’t like. And you mustn’t…”
Matthew watched her and understood what she was thinking. He leaned in, gently pressed his cold mask against her forehead, and looked at her lovingly
“Nelly, don’t worry, I’ll wait for as long as you need. Just know that I’ll only ever love you. Also, since you’re my wife now, I hope you can forget about Romeo Jenner. Although we have quite an age gap, you’re the only one I’ll ever promise my love to,” he said with deep affection.
It was the most he had ever said at one time. Before this, his words were short and succinct, unless it was about work.
Nelly gazed at him in disbelief because she hadn’t expected the depth of his words.
“I hope we can talk about this after 1 graduate…” she said hesitantly.
Matthew reached out and gently ruffled her hair. “Sure. From now on, this is your home,” he said gently.
The word “home” warmed Nelly’s heart. It gave her a sense of happiness.
Although she hadn’t developed romantic feelings for Matthew, she was deeply grateful to him and believed they would eventually find happiness together.
“I’ll get used to it eventually,” she replied with a cheerful smile.
“Alright, now go freshen up and go downstairs to eat,” Matthew said delightfully.
The mention of food made Nelly’s eyes light up instantly. Matthew had long known she was a true foodie.
“Will there be pierogi, pot pies…”
“Don’t worry, they’re all there,” Matthew interrupted.
Nelly excitedly leaped out of bed and dashed toward the bathroom
As Matthew watched her, a gentle smile tugged on his lips.
It took Nelly about 15 minutes to finish freshening up. She dressed casually in a simple white T–shirt paired with skinny jeans. Her high ponytail added a youthful and lively touch.
Although the outfit looked plain, the T–shirt and jeans cost thousands of dollars. Matthew had arranged for all the clothes in Nelly’s wardrobe to be personally tailored and customized just for her.
“Wow, so much good food!” Nelly exclaimed happily.
Seeing her bright smile, Matthew knew she had forgotten about yesterday’s unpleasantness.
“Let’s eat!” he said with a smile.
Nelly immediately sat down and began eating ravenously.
Suddenly, she thought of something and looked up at Matthew. Her cheeks puffed out with food.
“Mister, can you take off your mask now?” Nelly mumbled with a mouthful of food.
Matthew
put down his bowl of oatmeal and looked her in the eyes.
“I’ve told you before. I’d like you to take it off yourself when you fall in love with me,” he said. Nelly understood what he meant and tilted her head as she looked at him.
