Chapter 65
Daphine was undeniably beautiful. Unlike Yvonne, who might spend half a year planning her look for a single event, Daphne didn’t need such extravagance. Still, she took the necessary steps seriously–especially this time.
This marked her first high–profile appearance at a prestigious fashion event since her marital scandal. She needed to approach it with utmost caution. Preparing two days in advance was unprecedented for her, but she understood that mangeyes would be on her the fans who adored her, the rivals who despised her, and the ever–critical haters. She had to deliver a flawless performance.
“Sebastian, I’m heading to the styling studio this afternoon for a trial session Care to join me?” Daphne asked, sharing her schedule with him.
The Tamer and Farrell families were two giants in the business world. Naturally, Sebastian, as a key figure, was also invited to the Joy Fashion event
From his side was the faint rustling of papers, likely from work
“Oh? Would your personal stylist even have time for me?” Sebastian teased.
Daphne smiled but didn’t take the bait. “Of course not. My stylist’s priority is ensuring I look impeccable before anything else. As for you, Mr. Tumer, with your looks and charm, you could mal any rising star in the entertainment industry. If you ever debuted, you’d be the dream of countless women. You don’t need a stylist or you’ll leave everyone too much inve
Hearing her relaxed tone, Sebastian knew she was in good health and teft reassured. “Then I’ll pass. I have some work to handle these days. Let’s meet in Quartzville”
The event’s organizers had arranged for their VIP guests to stay at Quartzville’s finest hotel which featured breathtaking coastal views and lush tropical gardens–a seamless blend of tranquility and luxury. The red carpet was set up on the hotel’s private beach, sparing the quests the hassle of traveling far
By the time Daphne arrived at the hotel, it was already 9.30 pm on Friday
Having had a light meal on the flight, she wasn’t hungry. After a shower, she lazily sat alone on the balcony, enjoying the breeze and her thoughts.
Charity events like this were, in truth, just another stage for fame and fortune in the entertainment industry
In previous years, she had attended such events with Wilson as a couple. Wilson had always made charitable donations in her name, and back then, Daphne had narvely believed they were truly the picture perfect couple the public admired–talented, good–looking, and made for each other.
Now, looking back, she realized just how foolish she had been. There was no such thing as made for each other.
What she and Wilson had was nothing more than a regrettable entanglement both would rather erase.
She vividly remembered one such year. It was another charity event that took place at the same hotel
Back then, Wilson had stayed by her side the entire time, helping her choose and finalize her makeup, hairstyle, and dress. Even now, she could recall the amazement and affection in his eyes that day.
“Turns out even love can be an act,” Dapline scoffed bitterly ar bersell
She was lost in thought, immersed in a swirl of memories and emotions, when a saccharine voice suddenly broke through from the adjacent balcony.
“Well, well, Daphine. What a coincidence! We’re neighbors. Looks like we’re quite destined to cross paths.”
Yvonne leaned against the railing, hes gaze provocative as it landed on Dapline.
Daphine frowned, glancing back at her hurious ocean–view suite and then asking with a hint of doubt, “Youne Smith? If I’m not mistaken, with your status as a D–list celebrity, shouldn’t ther organizers have put you up at a different hotel?”
Yvonne flipped frt hair triumphantly. “That’s true, Daphne. As a D–lister, I shouldn’t be staying here. But you know how much Wilson dotes on me. He doesn’t want me to go through the trouble of commuting, so he insists I stay here with him.”
