Chapter 38
Sebastian, who had been watching the drama unfold, finally could not stay silent anymore. He asked, “Mr. Farrell, aren’t you being a bit of a bully here? When men interfere in women’s battles, it changes the whole game. If you insist on using the Farrell Group’s legal team against Daphne, I’ll have no choice but to bring in the Turner family’s lawyers.
Wilson’s gaze darkened as he shot Sebastian a cold glare “Sebastian, why do you keep meddling between Daphne’s and my affairs? Or is it because you’re actually sleeping with her?”
Suddenly, a glass of red wine was splashed across Wilson’s face. Daphne stood holding the empty wine glass, her eyes simmering with rage as she glared at Wilson. It was as if she wanted to burn holes through his face
She growled, “You piece of trash! Just because you’re despicable doesn’t mean everyone else is too! You can insult me, but you don’t get to insult Sebastian! He’s not as disgusting as you are!”
The meal had reached a point of no return. Jack shifted uncomfortably in his seat. He knew that whether he chose Daphne or Yvonne, he would be in for major trouble. Since both women had powerful backers, he decided to avoid the conflict altogether
Jack said nervously, “Everyone, please calm down. Actually, I’m looking for someone with a different ethnic background for the lead role.
“Neither of you quite fit what I’m envisioning, but I hope we can work together on future projects. Anyway, I have some business to attend to at the studio, so I’ll be heading out now. Please enjoy
your mealTM
Grabbing his jacket, Jack rushed out of the room without looking back. Meanwhile, Yvonne frustratedly wiped the wine from Wilson’s face, unable to hide her hatred for Daphne.
She spat, “How dare you throw these tantrums at Will and me whenever you feel like it, Daphne? You take advantage of Will’s good manners by attacking and insulting us.
“We’ve been letting you get away with it because we felt guilty, but aren’t you the one constantly seep around town with Sebastian? You’re no better than us!” Yvonne continued, “Next time you pull something like this, we won’t be so nicel
Dephine found it laughable When had they ever been nice to her? Her last shred of good mood
evaporated completely
She replied Yvonne, if you don’t want me to rip your mouth off your face, you’d better shut it.”
once snapped back, “You can bully me all you want, Daphne I know I can’t win against you But So bumiliate Will like that in front of everyone? Splashing wine at him and not even giving him a sided of respect? is that how a wife is supposed to act? No wonder Will doesn’t love you anymore!”
Chep 201
Het final words were a direct hit. She could not help but overthink if Wilson did not love her because she had embarrassed him publicly. Then again, she doubted so. It was simply because he did not love her anymore. Suddenly, everything felt pointless to Daphine.
She gestured to Ava and Sebastian, “Let’s go home
She could not stand being around these two toxic people anymore. Although she had not gotten the role today, neither had Yvonne, so it was not a complete loss.
As she reached the door, Daphne paused, her hand resting on the handle. There was something she needed to say, something she could not keep bottled up.
After a long moment of silence, her voice came out low but steady. “Wilson, you’re not the man I used to know.”
She could not find a single trace of the wonderful qualities that had made her fall in love with him. He would now spread rumors about her infidelity, use his power to suppress her career for Yvonne’s sake, and mock her with cruel words.
Sometimes, Daphne wondered if this was really the Wilson she had once loved. Nonetheless, after everything she had been through, the answer did not seem to matter anymore.
She took a deep breath, and when she looked up, there was newfound determination in her eyes. She said firmly. “You’re a worthless piece of shit now.”
With those final words, she opened the door and walked out, her steps steady and resolute.
