Chapter 31
By the time Daphne stepped out of the courthouse, it was almost noon. Outside, even more couples were lining up for marriage and divorce. The divorce queue stretched into a never–ending
line.
Daphne kept her head down, carefully weaving through the crowd. She had barely taken a few steps when someone abruptly grabbed her arm.
“Well, well, if it isn’t the famous Daphne? What are you doing here? Filing for divorce too?”
“So, Mr. Farrell really dumped her? Guess the rumors were right, after all…”
“So what if she’s a celebrity? Even the rich get tossed aside like nothing.‘
The moment Daphne’s identity was exposed, the crowd erupted in whispers and murmurs.
Amidst the chaos, someone reached out and yanked off Daphne’s mask. More onlookers swarmed in, quickly forming a mob.
Daphne struggled to push through the crowd. As she was not making any progress, she regretted not bringing Ava and Wendy along.
“It’s a real–life celebrity! It’s my first time meeting one. She’s gorgeous! No wonder she’s famous.
“She has such flawless skin and sharp features. She must’ve gotten a lot of work done, huh?” Cruel words traveled into Daphne’s ears. As a public figure, Daphne had built up resilience against criticism. However, hearing strangers dissect her appearance right to her face stirred deep discomfort
She maintained her friendly demeanor and expression. She then patiently explained that she was there for some legal paperwork. Despite that, no one was listening.
Just then, a voice shouted from within the crowd.
“That’s her! She’s the one who smeared Yvonne online, framing her as a homewrecker! She’s the reason Yvonne is being harassed!”
“Bitch! Go to hell!”
Rotten eggs and wilted lettuce flew, smashing against Daphne. The sticky mess clung to her carefully styled hair, letting out an awful stench
Daphne brimmed with anger, instantly realizing that it wasn’t some random crowd that was surrounding her. A few of them were stirring chaos and humiliating her on purpose.
Daphine ignored her ruined appearance and scanned the mob, searching for whoever was still throwing eggs. Her gaze locked on a group of young women laughing among themselves. Without

hesitation, she charged forward.
“Stop right there!”
The young women had come prepared. As soon as Daphne started the chase, they split up,
scattering in different directions. Daphne was sure that it was premeditated.
Daphne quickly lost sight of the women as the gawking crowd blocked her. She had no choice but to give up the pursuit.
“Next time, you won’t get away!” she yelled.
Daphne’s voice fumed with frustration as she pointed at their retreating figures.
Of course, everyone thought it was a bad omen seeing a glamorous celebrity pelted with rotten.
eggs
Daphne had a meeting with a renowned director that afternoon. She swallowed her anger and called the police to report the incident. Then, she hurried back to her apartment to shower and change.
Strangely, not long after she got home, Sebastian returned as well.
Just as she headed out, she saw Sebastian stepping out of the elevator with a young woman trailing behind him.
The woman looked youthful, and her skin was flawless and fresh. When she smiled, her eyes curved into crescents. She carried herself with the effortless grace of someone born in privilege.
The woman clung to Sebastian’s side and called out in a sweet voice, “Seb.”
Daphne’s mind raced as she scrambled through her memories. Sebastian didn’t have a sister. So, who was this woman?
