Chapter 27

Daphne smirked and stopped Wendy from charging forward. “I got my endorsement through my
own hard work. How you got yours, I have no idea. And by the way, have you checked the trending
topics? My endorsement announcement is getting way more attention than yours.
“What’s the deal? You’re useless, and your fans are useless. Looks like I’m winning this one, huh?”
Daphne shook her head mockingly, pretending to feel sorry for Yvonne.
Yvonne’s face shifted from pale to green and then back to white due to rage. She was practically
stomping her feet. “So what? Even after all these years, Wilson still gave me the Story deal that
you couldn’t get!”
Just as they were about to continue their verbal sparring, Wilson appeared. Dressed in a sharp black suit, he was walking toward them with a few bodyguards in tow. His presence created a
clear divide between him and the others around him.
“Wilson, what are you doing here?” Yvonne purred, suddenly softening her tone and linking her
arm with Wilson’s. “I told you not to come. Why are you so clingy?”
Her attitude was a complete 180 from the smug, condescending one she had just shown Daphne.
Wilson glanced at Daphne briefly but didn’t even bother to acknowledge her. Instead, he turned
his attention to Yvonne, brushing her nose with his fingers. “I had to check on you. Who knows
what would happen if you were left alone?
Daphne couldn’t hold back her disgust. She let out a dramatic, gagging sound.
Wilson’s eyes narrowed at her, his tone icy. “Look’s like you haven’t settled your contract issue,
huh?”
Because of Wilson, Daphne’s endorsements had nearly all been canceled. The worst was Hugo, who had stalled the contract termination to please Wilson, keeping her from getting any
resources.
“Wilson, you overestimate yourself,” Daphne shot back, meeting his icy stare. “Without you, I’m still making money. But as for your mistress, I bet she’d starve without you.”
“She doesn’t have to work. I’ll take care of her,” Wilson retorted, his voice dripping with sarcasm. What about you? Without me, you’re nothing.”
Without you, she’s got me, Sebastian’s voice suddenly interrupted.
Sebastian appeared, wearing a bold, patterned Regal Manor–style coat with his hands casually shoved in his pockets. He looked like he could walk right off a fashion magazine cover. He walked past the stunned group and straight to Daphne, his gaze softening. Tired yet? I’ve got snacks in
the car

His unexpected appearance took Daphne aback, but for some reason, the sight of him made her feel strangely at ease. “Why are you here?”
“Of course, I came to see you,” Sebastian replied as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Daphne’s heart softened, and she playfully scolded him, “What’s so special about me?”
“Everything about you is special,” Sebastian replied with a smile that made her heart flutter. Wilson’s eyes narrowed as he watched how close Sebastian and Daphne were. “Sebastian, I didn’t know you were into other people’s wives. Guess you like used women now?”
Yvonne, ever the opportunist, couldn’t resist chiming in, “Yeah, Wilson, I didn’t expect Daphne and Mr. Turner to be so close. No wonder there are so many rumors about him and Daphne…”
Yvonne’s words hung in the air, making everyone uncomfortable.
“Wilson, your taste has really gone downhill,” Sebastian continued, his voice laced with disdain. How does your taste go from a knockout like Daphne to someone like… this?” He glanced at Yvonne as if she were beneath him, shaking his head in mock disappointment.
“Daphne is the global ambassador for Turner Group I’ll protect my ambassador. If she’s a used woman, then you’re just a step–down
Η
Daphne couldn’t help but laugh, mentally giving Sebastian a thumbs–up for his sharp retort. “Well said, Sebastian! Some people need to get a clue!”
After a long day of shooting. Daphne was exhausted and didn’t want to waste more time with Yvonne and Wilson. She tugged at Sebastian’s sleeve. “Let’s go, Sebastian.”
Wilson’s eyes locked onto the way Daphne was holding Sebastian’s sleeve, and his expression turned cold. “Daphne, I think you’ve forgotten something.”
Daphne paused and turned, confused. “Forgotten what?”
Wilson stayed silent, his gaze fixed on her with an unreadable intensity. His eyes were dark, almost like an ocean–too deep to decipher.
No one could figure out what he was thinking, and after a few tense seconds, Wilson finally said, ” Stop playing dumb”
