Sofia Schneider’s face turned red at Older Mr. Hart’s words. She cleared her throat and said, “Grandpa, don’t say that.”
Older Mr. Hart replied, “I know you young people like your own space. I’m not an old fogey. Look at Curtis; he hardly comes back at all. If you and Nathaniel want to live on your own, that’s fine with me.”
Sofia said, “I’ll talk to Mr. Hart and see what he thinks.”
She personally preferred living at this old house.
For one, Older Mr. Hart treated her so well, giving her a sense of family she had never experienced.

Older Mr. Hart glared at Nathaniel and said, “Let me in first. You two can get cozy after. It’s hot out here, and you’re blocking your grandpa at the door. Is that right?”
Sofia, feeling shy, gently pushed against Nathaniel’s chest, making him let her go.
She stepped back and said, “Grandpa, let’s go inside. I’ll get you some drink.”
Older Mr. Hart perked up instantly, taking Sofia’s arm. “Sofia, you’re so considerate. Unlike this rascal who doesn’t care about his grandpa at all.”
Sofia stifled a laugh, glancing at Nathaniel. She felt a bit sorry for him.
When he was ill, Older Mr. Hart was so worried and careful, afraid that a single wrong word would make Nathaniel lose the will to live.
Now that Nathaniel was healthy again, Older Mr. Hart’s true feelings of coming out.
Seeing Nathaniel being teased by Older Mr. Hart, Sofia found it quite endearing.
