Chapter 93: Unending Accidents
Just as Chloe felt herself fading, she saw a familiar face swimming towards her. Mia pulled her onto the boat and quickly removed Chloe’s diving gear, allowing her to breathe again.
“Chloe, Chloe, are you okay? Wake up! Don’t scare me!”
Fortunately, Chloe hadn’t been unconscious for long and received timely help. As she emerged above water, air rushed into her lungs, and she finally felt alive again.
She opened her eyes and took deep breaths, but the sensation of choking caused her lungs to ache, and she started coughing.
Once the choking passed, Chloe gradually felt herself coming back to life.
However, her face was extremely pale. Seeing her like this, Mia was heartbroken, tears
streaming down her cheeks as she hugged Chloe, barely able to speak.
When Mia saw Chloe starting to sink earlier, fear consumed her. While bringing Chloe back up,
she had genuinely feared Chloe wouldn’t wake up.
Now, seeing Chloe conscious and able to breathe felt like a relief for Mia.
“You almost gave me a heart attack! Do you have any idea? Thank goodness you’re okay! If something had happened to you, how could I ever forgive myself?”
Mia was truly terrified, and though Chloe looked pale, she couldn’t help but gently pat her
shoulder.
“Don’t worry. Look, I’m fine now.”
“How can I not worry? When I saw your signal, I realized you were in trouble. I thought I was going to die! Finding you unconscious made me so scared. I really couldn’t bear the thought of losing you.”
As she spoke, Mia’s voice broke, and tears fell freely. Seeing her like this made Chloe feel sad
too.
She felt a bit of fear herself, despite telling Mia not to worry.
“I even had to give you CPR. I was so scared you wouldn’t wake
up.”
Seeing Mia on the verge of passing out from crying, Chloe tried to lighten the mood with a joke: “I thought I was having an amazing experience, but it turned out to be you! What a missed opportunity.”
Mia couldn’t help but chuckle through her tears, lightly hitting Chloe’s arm. “What kind of talk is that? Are you blaming me? Should I go find someone to give you CPR instead?”
This light–hearted exchange calmed the atmosphere somewhat.
Chapter 3 Unending Accidents
The instructor had been worried too, but seeing them talk eased his concerns.
“Her face looks really bad. Shouldn’t we take her to the hospital for a checkup?”
When the instructor spoke, Mia suddenly realized they really needed to get Chloe to the hospital.
She had already called for help, but it hadn’t registered when she saw Chloe waking up.
“Yes, we need to go to the hospital. I called for an ambulance. Is there anywhere else you feel uncomfortable?”
Mia had been so focused on Chloe waking up that she forgot to check if Chloe had any other injuries. Chloe realized her arm was still a bit immobile from the earlier collision.
“I hurt my arm; I can’t lift it much.”
“We’ll have it checked out at the hospital, but what happened down there? Why did you suddenly sink?”
After a moment of silence, Chloe looked at the group around them and finally said, “My oxygen tank had a problem.”
Mia’s expression turned serious. She grabbed a nearby oxygen tank and began examining it closely. It looked fine, except for a small hole at the bottom.
That hole was minor and usually wouldn’t matter, but it could be critical at the wrong moment, as evidenced by Chloe’s experience.
Thinking that Chloe had almost faced an accident because of this made Mia furious. She turned to the instructor, glaring. He was equally shocked–how could this happen?
“That’s impossible! All our equipment is updated annually, and every piece is checked before you wear it. Such incidents cannot occur here. Even if something did go wrong, this is a safe zone; rescue is always available. Drowning is nearly impossible here, especially since not many tourists are around. Our rescue team would spot any trouble immediately.”
The instructor quickly explained the situation.
However, the more he explained, the angrier Mia became. No matter how he justified it, the incident had happened, and the equipment had failed, leaving them without rescue.
“What’s the point of your explanation now? The incident has already occurred. Isn’t this negligence on your part? If I hadn’t noticed something was wrong, what do you think would have happened to my friend? And if there were rescue personnel, why was it just me who brought her up? Where were your rescuers?”
Mia was furious. Chloe hadn’t intended to speak up, but after hearing the instructor, added, “I encountered a shark underwater.”

This revelation shocked both Mia and the instructor.
Such an incident occurring in a safe zone was unheard of. The instructor’s eyes widened in disbelief. “That’s impossible! This is a safe zone. Sharks may appear outside of it, but they live in deep waters and won’t come this close to the surface, let alone attack humans.”
“If I remember correctly, there are cameras in the diving suits. If you don’t believe me, you can check the footage. We can review it together right now,” Chloe replied, clearly unsatisfied.
