loe shook her head, unable to accept it. Daniel’s words and actions were incomprehensible to her.
/hy? Do you find this idea unacceptable?” Daniel asked. “But I think it’s perfectly reasonable. I’ve liked u for a long time; you just never knew. And now that you and Julian are no longer together, I’d like the ance to pursue you. Don’t you think you could give me that chance?”
loe found this even crazier. “Are you serious? You and I have barely spoken, and we’ve never been that ɔse. How could you say you like me? It doesn’t make sense. And besides…”
loe’s mind raced. She couldn’t wrap her head around this.
ave you forgotten that you and Julian are best friends? This whole situation is just too insane,” Chloe id, shaking her head again. The thought of Daniel, Julian’s close friend, having feelings for her was thinkable.

Seeing Daniel’s serious expression, Chloe knew he wasn’t joking. He genuinely wanted to pursue her. She took a deep breath, looking at him intently.
Daniel was always a gentleman in their interactions, always polite and respectful. But no matter how decent he was, there was no way Chloe could be involved with someone so closely connected to Julian.
Chloe straightened up, her voice firm. “I’m sorry, but I can’t accept your feelings, and I won’t accept you pursuing me.”
Daniel had anticipated this. He knew she would reject him, and that was perfectly normal. If she had accepted him right away, that would have been truly strange.
“I knew you wouldn’t accept my feelings right away. But so what? You can’t stop me from pursuing you, can you?” Daniel said with a smile.
Chloe opened her mouth but found herself at a loss for words. He was right–she couldn’t stop him from pursuing her, but all she could do was reject him.
“Julian didn’t know how to appreciate what he had, but I do. I hope you’ll give me a chance. It’s not just about me–it’s also a chance for you. I know what you want, I understand your values and your ambitions. I’ll support you in everything, and we have so much in common,” Daniel said, stepping closer to her.
Seeing him approach, Chloe felt uncomfortable and backed away. “Don’t come any closer.”
Daniel stopped, his smile unchanged. “Fine, I’ll stay right here. But I want you to know that I really like you
not just now, but before, now, and in the future. I’ll keep pursuing you, no matter what you say.”
Daniel’s words were sincere, but Chloe frowned. “I’ve never wanted to be involved with anyone from Julian’s circle. I don’t like you, and that won’t change, no matter what you say. If you insist on pursuing me, that’s your choice, but I will never be with you.”
The fact that Daniel and Julian were close friends was one of the biggest reasons Chloe couldn’t accept
his advances.
