Chapter 57: Come Back Together
Julian couldn’t accept it. He reached out to grab Chloe’s hand, but she was filled with fear and stepped back, her eyes wide with terror.
“Don’t come near me!” she cried.
Seeing the fear in her eyes, Julian froze for a moment. What had happened at the villa that day was something neither Chloe nor Julian could overcome.
He wanted to explain, but he didn’t know where to start. That day, he had been furious, and things spiraled out of control.
“Enough, there’s nothing left to say between us,” Chloe said coldly.
“I’m sorry. I was wrong. It was all my fault. Please forgive me. I shouldn’t have said those things or done what I did. I’m begging you, don’t be afraid of me. Don’t leave me. I’ve missed you so much. Every day we’ve been apart, I’ve thought of nothing but you. Please, come back with me,” Julian pleaded, his eyes reddening with unshed tears.
Chloe looked at him and let out a bitter laugh. She recalled the saying about crocodile tears. It was the perfect way to describe Julian right now.
“Why should I go back with you? For what? To be your secret lover or the other woman?” she asked bluntly.
Julian’s face turned pale. “No, I would never make you do that. If you come back, I’ll break up with Layla. You’ll always be my girlfriend.”
But Chloe just shook her head. She had lost count of how many times she had said no that night, yet Julian seemed deaf to her rejections.
“No, I don’t want to go back to you. I don’t want to be your girlfriend anymore.”
Julian tried to say more, but Chloe had had enough. She turned and went back into her room, slamming the door shut and locking it.
After a while, everything went quiet. Chloe, still feeling uneasy, peeked outside and saw that Julian had fallen asleep on the couch.
She didn’t say a word, retreating back to her room. Whatever happened, she didn’t care anymore.
The next morning, Julian woke up, feeling stiff and sore from sleeping on the couch. His head was still foggy, and it took him a while to gather his thoughts.
He looked around the small, unfamiliar space. It wasn’t his villa, and the place was so cramped. Though clean and tidy, it felt tiny compared to the smallest room in his mansion,
At that moment, Chloe emerged from the bedroom, and their eyes met.
“Chloe?” Julian said, surprised to see her.
Chloe poured herself a glass of water and sat down at the table, keeping her distance from him. “Do you remember what happened last night?” she asked.
Julian shook his head. He couldn’t recall a thing.
Chloe had expected as much. If he remembered, there was no way he would have said the things he did, asking her to go back with him. His pride would never allow it.
“Last night, you showed up in the middle of the night, banging on my door and disturbing everyone. You’re

an adult now, so please stop acting like a child. The things you did only caused trouble for others. Think about the consequences before you act. Just because you have money doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want,” Chloe’s voice was icy and filled with reprimand.
Julian, his head still throbbing, felt as if her words were a punch to the gut. For a moment, his mind cleared.
He looked up, a sneer forming on his face. “Are you joking? Do you really think I’d want to be here? This place is so small and pathetic. Even if you begged me, wouldn’t come back a second time!”
With that, he grabbed his coat, threw it on, and slammed the door behind him as he stormed out.
In the alley outside, Julian couldn’t contain himself and pulled out his phone to call Adam.
Adam answered quickly, but before he could say anything, Julian spoke. “Let’s go get a drink.”
It was the middle of the day, and the bar wasn’t open yet. It was just the two of them sitting there, which
felt a bit odd.
If it weren’t their usual hangout, no bar would have let them in at that hour.
Adam looked at Julian, slightly exasperated. “You just finished one round, and now you’re starting again? Can your body even handle this?”
“Stop talking so much. We’re here to drink, not to chat,” Julian snapped.
Adam could see that Julian was in a foul mood, so he didn’t argue. “Fine, fine, I get it. Let’s drink.”
As they sat there with no one else around, Julian raised his glass and asked, “Where’s everyone else?”
“William got called away, and Daniel’s been busy with something. Haven’t seen him in days,” Adam explained.
Julian wasn’t particularly interested. He had only asked to make conversation.
Seeing how upset Julian was, Adam stayed quiet, simply keeping him company. He hadn’t expected the drinking session to stretch from midday into the night.
By the time it was over, Adam had to call a cab to get Julian back to his villa. Julian was completely wasted.
After finally getting him settled, Adam could hear Julian muttering Chloe’s name over and over again.
Adam couldn’t help but feel a bit frustrated. Julian obviously still cared deeply for Chloe. So why did he act in ways that only pushed her further away?
He had driven her off, and now here he was, drinking himself into oblivion. What was the point?
After Julian left, Chloe spent the day cleaning up her apartment. He had made such a mess the night before with his outburst.
Once everything was tidy, she decided not to go to the library and stayed home instead.
She made herself a simple dinner, though she didn’t finish it and saved the leftovers for the next day. After cleaning the kitchen, it was already late.
Just as she was about to do some practice problems before bed, her phone buzzed. She was surprised to see a friend request from Daniel.
