Chapter 47: Making Decisions Seriously
The bracelet was a custom–made gift Julian had commissioned from a renowned artisan abroad for Chloe’s third birthday together. It was a one–of–a–kind plece, and he had even named it “Cherish,” symbolizing how Chloe was the person he cherished most in his life.
From the moment Chloe received the bracelet, she had never taken it off. But now, she had left it behind, along with everything els
It felt like she had thrown away not just the bracelet, but all the memories, emotions, and years they had spent together.
As Julian sat on the edge of the bed, he felt like all the strength had been drained from his body. Only now did he realize that every word Chloe had said and every decision she had made hadn’t been out of anger.
She had been serious all along. She had thought carefully before doing anything, and she had seriously decided to leave him.
Downstairs, Megan had noticed the eerie silence coming from upstairs. Feeling uneasy, she finally decided to check on Julian. As she reached the door, she saw Julian step out, his face clouded with frustration. Sensing his foul mood, she kept her distance and watched as he left the villa.
Once he was gone, Megan entered the closet room. What she found made her gasp–everything was mess. Priceless items were strewn across the floor, clothes–worn and unworn–were scattered
everywhere.
Megan could only stand in silence, unsure how to react to the chaotic scene,
A
In a dimly lit bar, Julian sat alone in a corner, drowning himself in hard liquor. He had ordered several bottles, and anyone passing by could tell he wasn’t drinking for enjoyment–he was looking for an escape
Flashing lights cast shadows across his face, making him appear mysterious. Several women walking by couldn’t resist being drawn to him, some even stopping to try their luck.
“Hey, handsome. Drinking alone is no fun. How about I keep you company?”
A woman in a low–cut dress with a short hemline sauntered up to him, leaning over provocatively, her cleavage prominently displayed.
Any other man might have been tempted, but Julian’s response was cold, his gaze as sharp as a knife.
“Get lost.”
The woman flinched at his icy demeanor and quickly backed off, realizing she had chosen the wrong. person. Covering herself, she walked away, embarrassed.
With the annoyance gone, Julian continued drinking. As he raised the glass to his lips, he suddenly spotted a familiar figure in the crowd. His heart raced. It had to be Chloe.
Without thinking, he abandoned his drink and rushed after the figure, grabbing the person’s wrist.
But when she turned around, it wasn’t Chloe. It was a stranger, her outfit just similar enough to deceive
him.
The woman, startled at first, softened when she saw the lost, pained look on Julian’s face. “You must’ve mistaken me for someone else,” she said gently.
chure I.. Makinadecuado Seriously
Julian blinked, realizing his mistake. “Sorry,” he muttered, releasing her wrist. It had been a moment of desperation. For a second, he had believed Chloe had returned. But he should have known better–Chloe hated places like this. What was he thinking, hoping to find her here?
Finishing his drink, Julian left the bar. As he approached the exit, someone clapped a hand on his shoulder.
“Hey, man, what’s up? Why didn’t you tell us you were here? We’re upstairs! Come join us,” William greeted him with a grin,
Julian turned to see William, but he shook his head, feeling exhausted. “Not tonight. You guys have fun.”
With that, Julian gave William a pat on the shoulder and left, leaving William standing there, puzzled.
Julian had always been the life of the party, never one to miss out on a night like this. Could the breakup with Chloe have changed him that much? Or had they already reconciled?
If they had, William understood why Julian was staying out of the scene. Shrugging, William headed back upstairs.
By the time Julian returned to the will it was late. Megan had already tidied room, putting everything back in place as if it had never been touched.
up the mess in the closet
Julian wandered into the study. One wall was lined with bookshelves, filled with professional books Chloe had meticulously collected over the years. Even though she hadn’t continued her studies or taken a job, she had never stopped dedicating time to her field.
Every spare moment she had, she spent in the study, reading. The books on those shelves were rare editions and special finds she had hunted down, excitedly sharing her joy with Julian whenever she found something valuable.”
But back then, he hadn’t cared much.
A sudden thought struck Julian. He went downstairs, where Megan was still tidying up after the day’s chaos.
“Megan, lend me your phone,” he said abruptly.
Megan instinctively clutched her pocket. She didn’t want to hand over her phone–especially after what had happened last time. Her phone had ended up smashed to bits.
“Sir, I…”
“Don’t worry, I’ll have my assistant get you two new phones tomorrow. The latest models.”
Hearing this, Megan reluctantly handed over her phone. If new phones were part of the deal, she figured it wouldn’t hurt.
Taking the phone, Julian stood by the window and made a call–once again, to Chloe.
As soon as the call connected, before Chloe could even speak, Julian said, “You’ve made it clear we’re done. But that means we’re done in every way. So come and get your stuff. All that junk in your closet–if you don’t take it, I’ll throw it out tomorrow.”
