Chapter 60

The HR director, Marceline Chapman, immediately fell silent.
Since the executive CEO had decided to handle all administrative matters on her own, there was nothing more she could say.
That first day, Emma worked late into the night. By the time she walked home, she found Gabriel resting lightly on the couch. With just one glance, Emma’s heart skipped a beat. Even asleep, he was irresistibly captivating. She felt a sudden dryness creeping up her throat.
Over the past two years, Gabriel had seamlessly integrated into her life. Emma had slowly stopped seeing him as just a suitable male roommate and instead… as someone she could depend
- on.
However, the contract between them had always been a barrier. She had never dared to cross the line.
Kicking off her heels, she sighed in relief as her feet sank into her soft, cotton slippers. Finally, she felt alive again.
Just as she was about to quietly sneak back to her room, the man on the couch suddenly opened his eyes.
Gabriel’s gaze locked onto her, deep and unwavering. His just–awoken presence was intense, almost dangerously sharp, which made Emma slightly uncomfortable. Moreover, Gabriel was breathtakingly handsome–flawlessly so and from every angle.
His slightly loosened collar revealed his collarbones, making it impossible to ignore.
As he fully sobered up, his voice turned low and smooth. “You’re back?”
Emma nodded, feeling slightly awkward. “Did I wake you up?”
Hearing her cautious tone, Gabriel chuckled softly with a smile. “No. I was waiting for you.”
“Waiting for me?” Emma’s heart stirred and stole a glance at him.
“How was your first day? Why are you home so late?”
Before she could answer, Gabriel’s gaze swept downward and landed on her swollen ankle. His brows furrowed immediately.
“What happened to your foot? Was it from wearing heels all day?”
Emma glanced down. Her ankle was indeed sore from a full day in heels.
“Come here. I’ll massage it for you.”
His serious expression caused her to twist her fingers together nervously as she struggled to keep her emotions in check.
“Don’t overthink it! Don’t overthink it!” she reminded herself internally.
Emma approached him hesitantly. The second she sat down, Gabriel immediately lifted her leg and rested it on his lap as he gently massaged her ankle.
A tingling warmth spread through her leg. However, as he raised her leg, the hem of her skirt slid higher, revealing the supple skin of her thighs.
The air suddenly thickened with tension, and Emma’s face blushed uncontrollably.
She thought about pulling her skirt down, but when she saw how focused Gabriel was, she hesitated. Wouldn’t her nervous fidgeting just make it even more obvious? Forcing herself to stay calm, she lifted her gaze slightly, watching Gabriel’s focused expression.
His technique was so good that it made her body unconsciously relax. And before she realized it, a question slipped out. “Have you… ever done this for another woman?”
The moment she heard herself, she wanted to bite her tongue off! Why the hell did she ask him such a question?
Gabriel paused, then slowly lifted his gaze, his eyes filled with a suggestive look.
Their eyes locked, and during that fleeting moment, Emma felt as though her heart had stopped.
