Chapter 53
Lea was sick?
Emma’s lips twitched as she forced a smile laced with derision.
“Mr. Castro, you really enjoy playing with women, don’t you? Is hurting women a new hobby you’ve picked up? Do you think this makes you look cool and carefree? Ms. Davila is someone you’ve loved for so long. Stop repeating mistakes like this, will you?”
Emma was genuinely furious, so much so that she could barely speak through her trembling lips.
Frank’s expression shifted as he anxiously tried to explain that he didn’t mean it that way.
However, Emma’s face had already turned cold with rejection. Taking advantage of his momentary hesitation, she shut the door right in his face.
“Just leave. Don’t come looking for me again!”
Frank was left standing at the door, rejected. His expression was dark and unreadable, and his silhouette from the back seemed tense.
This neighborhood was one of the most upscale and luxurious residential areas in Steistan, with a simple yet grand decor.
Frank hadn’t gotten a good look at the face of the man who had just left. However, his hands at his sides slowly clenched into fists.
He dialed a number. “Find out who the man with Emma is!”

The next day, Emma finally made up her mind–she was returning to her home country to further her career.
Meanwhile, Gabriel hadn’t come back since leaving the night before. Emma hesitated for a moment before finally sending him a message. “Gabriel, I’ve made my decision. I’m going back.”
Gabriel quickly replied. “I’ll come home.”
Emma stared at the message, her eyes flickering slightly, but she didn’t overthink it. Instead, she started packing her belongings.
Over the past two years, Emma had thought she hadn’t accumulated much here. But as she packed, she realized that even two suitcases weren’t enough to pack her stuff.
Gabriel had also surprised her with little gifts occasionally. He always picked things she liked, making it difficult for her to leave them behind.
Soon, she heard the sound of the biometric lock being unlocked. Gabriel walked in, and their gazes met.
Gabriel stared at her intently and said, “I’ll go back with you.”
He was going back with her?
Emma hesitated. Returning to her home country was her own decision. She didn’t want Gabriel to compromise his plans because of her.
However, Gabriel explained considerately, “I need to go back for work too. My parents want me to develop my career back home. Once we’re there, we can continue our secret marriage.” Did he just imply… that their contract would be extended?
Having said that, Gabriel watched Emma in silence, waiting expectantly for her reaction.
Emma pursed her lips, then lifted her gaze to meet his. His eyes were dark as ink, and his lips were pressed tightly together. She couldn’t seem to find a reason to reject him.
After all, over the past two years, they had indeed gotten along well. Even their arguments had been few and far between.
If they were to separate peacefully, her parents would inevitably start pressuring her into blind dates again. Rather than wasting time meeting strangers, it would be easier to just stay with Gabriel. At least he was refreshing and not overbearing
Emma widened her eyes and asked with a hint of concern, “Have you secured a job back home?”
Gabriel pressed his lips together, concealing the emotions in his eyes. “I’ll take care of it myself.”
However, his response made Emma wonder if he was really planning to return for work or if it was just because she suddenly decided to go back. She hesitated. “Gabriel, I don’t want to be a burden to you. I hope you’re serious about this decision…”
“I’ve made up my inind, Emma. I’m going back with you. I won’t regret it.”
Gabriel’s firm response left her momentarily speechless.
The atmosphere between them gradually became laced with unspoken tension.
