Chapter 43
“Why don’t we talk at a nearby café? We can hash out the initial project plan there.”
Emma could sense Brian’s sincerity about the project, so she didn’t refuse.
The two of them headed to the café together, completely unaware that Samantha was watching them from a distance and secretly snapping photos.
A satisfied smirk curled on Samantha’s lips, a glint of triumph in her eyes. “Emma, I knew you weren’t as innocent as you pretend to be. Acting all loyal while keeping an eye on someone else? Gabriel isn’t enough for you, huh? Now, you’re after Brian too?”
With meticulous precision, she edited the photos before sending them anonymously to Gabriel’s email. One thing was certain, there was no way Gabriel would tolerate being cheated on.
Yet when Gabriel opened the email and glanced at the photos, his expression remained unreadable. There was no anger or shock, just a nonchalant curl of his lips.
Oscar, sitting nearby, leaned in curiously. When he caught sight of the photos, he raised an eyebrow. “Gabriel, isn’t that your girlfriend?”
Gabriel corrected him smoothly, “Wife.”
Oscar’s eye twitched. He still couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that Gabriel had actually gotten married.
Just like that? He handed himself over so quickly?
“Alright, alright, wife. But it looks like your wife is about to get herself a new boyfriend. So, what’s the plan? Gonna bust in and catch her red–handed?”
Oscar grinned mischievously, but Gabriel silenced him with a cold glance. “You actually believe something this stupid?”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
Oscar watched as Gabriel remained completely unfazed. Instead of reacting with anger, he simply ordered an investigation into the anonymous sender’s identity.
Oscar let out a low whistle and gave him a thumbs–up. “Damn, never thought I’d see the day you played the devoted, loyal husband role.”

Meanwhile, for the next two days, Emma worked closely with Brian on the project.
Samantha waited and waited. Yet Gabriel still showed no reaction. Frustration gnawed at her, pushing her to take things a step further. That morning, she arrived on campus extra early, so early that the place was practically deserted.
With meticulous care, she printed out the photos and plastered them outside the project team’s office. Then, to twist the knife deeper, she scrawled bold accusations beneath them.
“Two–timing, shameless woman! Everyone, take a good look at her true colors!”
As soon as the photos went public, the entire university erupted like a hornet’s nest. Gossip about Emma and Brian spread like wildfire.
After all, Emma was a new student. She had barely started the term, and she was already at the center of a scandal.
Emma arrived on campus, oblivious to the storm brewing around her.
She had barely stepped through the gates wiien a man suddenly blocked her path, smirking arrogantly. “How much for a night? Is one thousand enough?”
Emma’s gaze turned ice–cold. “Oh? Sounds good. Let’s talk about it at the police station.”
She pulled out her phone, ready to call the cops. The man’s face stiffened. He muttered curses under his breath before slinking away.
Emma headed straight for the project office, only to come to an abrupt halt. The walls were covered in insults. And there, plastered for everyone to see, were photos of two very familiar people–her and Brian. Her expression darkened.
It was obvious that someone was trying to frame her.
Emma’s eyes narrowed. Ever since she came to Steistan, the only person she had clashed with was Samantha–Gabriel’s obsessive admirer. No doubt, this was her doing.
Glancing up, Emma spotted the hallway’s surveillance camera. It had been turned off.
Without hesitation, she pivoted and headed straight for the information room. Minutes later, she walked back out with a flash drive in her hand.
