“Mr 3. Castro Senior!”
Emma quickly walked to the bedside, and Thea grasped her hand tightly.
“Emma, it feels like it’s been half a year since you left, even though it’s only been less than a month. How are your parents doing?”
Emma nodded and replied, “Mrs. Castro, they’re doing well. They asked me to bring their regards. Once they finish their work, they’ll come to visit you.”
“It’s such a hassle to travel all the way from Steistan, with a layover and everything. I can hardly believe you came this time.”
Emma lowered her gaze, hiding the emotions in her eyes. “Mrs. Castro, since you’re in the hospital, there’s no way I wouldn’t come to see you.”
As she looked at Emma, Thea recalled the conversation she had with Frank before losing consciousness. After all, he was her son. Despite her anger, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of concern for him.
After a moment of hesitation, Thea suddenly said, “Emma, during the time you’ve been gone, Frank has missed you a lot and has been looking for you.”
He missed her a lot? He probably couldn’t accept being played like that, having been left without even a proper goodbye.
Looking for her? He likely just wanted to scold her once he found her, using his position as her foster uncle to warn her not to act so recklessly.
Before even seeing Frank, Emma had already imagined their reunion.
Pursing her lips, a faint, sarcastic smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. However, Emma didn’t want to cause Thea any more worry.
She said, “Mrs. Castro, between Frank and me, it’s over now. I’ve grown up, and I should have my own life. I can’t let him control everything.”
But Emma knew deep down that he didn’t really want to control her.
Just as Thea was about to say something, Emma said something that would shock her. “Also, I’ve already gotten married. My parents have met him too.”
“Married?” Thea’s expression changed instantly. She was clearly surprised that Emma had gotten married so quickly.
“Emma, how could you suddenly decide to get married? A lifelong commitment like that shouldn’t be taken lightly.”
“I just met my Mr. Right, so we got married.”
Seeing Emma hesitate, Thea couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness in her heart. It seemed that Emma had truly let go of Frank this time.
Her marriage meant that there was no longer any possibility between them.
Looking at Emma, Thea genuinely cared for her as she said, “Well, when you get the chance, you should bring him to see me. I’d like to meet him and give my opinion.” Emma smiled softly, not refusing.
Just then, her phone on the table rang with a message from Frank.
“How are you, Mom? I’m coming over to see you now.”
When Thea learned that Frank was coming to visit, she could have been selfish and kept it from Emma, letting them meet. Perhaps that would change something.
However, as she looked at Emma, she didn’t want her to feel any more sadness or be hurt again. Her expression was calm as she said, “Emma, Frank is coming to see me soon. You…” “Mrs. Castro Senior, as long as you’re okay, that’s all that matters. I’ll get going first.”
Glancing at Emma, Thea was reluctant to let her go, but she didn’t insist. Instead, she asked John to see Emma off.
As Emma left the hospital, Frank happened to be coming up from the parking lot. When the elevator doors opened, his gaze froze, and his body immediately tensed.
Frank instinctively called out, “Em-”
However, Emma’s figure had already disappeared.
